Thanks Bes!

Ryan - Unfortunately there are always people in any group who don't know how to respectfully interact with others. And if men use that as an excuse to follow suit, then they don't have very high moral standards. Would they be willing to steal and cheat if other do it?

As you point out, Women entrepreneurs will be a big key to women empowerment going forward. They are already 30% of the non-farm small business owners and overall as business owners they are concentrating (20%) in the professional, scientific and technical services. It's very exciting!

Whitney - I agree. Inspiration and encouragement of women to leadership and cooperation at all levels are what are needed more than ever! We are at a tipping point!!

Susan: I think you are right that men would eventually get the message that adulterous behaviors are not acceptable if they saw women divorce these men and take their money. It is my observation that even men who can't process words or emotions can process financial transactions making that an excellent way to communicate with them.

I agree completely, Bes. Eleanor Roosevelt was a woman to be emulated. Jackie Kennedy was pretty and dressed really well. I don't think that all women need to be civil rights crusaders to be admired or to have fullfilling lives but it's beyond annoying that Jackie is lauded as the perfect First Lady and Eleanor is so often ridiculed for her looks instead of admired for the work she did to improve the lives of all Americans.

I try hard not to judge women who stay with serially unfaithful husbands but I wonder if adulterous men wouldn't eventually get the message that their behavior is unacceptable if women with means divorced the basatards and took all of their money.

I lost a lot of respect for JFK when I learned that he'd had many affairs but this one was exceptionally disturbing. She was so young.

It was disappointing to see that Chesler, a Fox News contributor, saw fit to reel off the names of Democratic politicians who have acted out sexually while failing to include Sen. David "Diaper" Vitter (R-LA) and Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich, two egregious examples of men who have cheated on their wives and suffered no significant dmamage to their careers.

Well I will criticize Jackie Kennedy. When I hear her talk in that submissive "little girl full of wonder" voice that Marilyn Monroe also affected it makes me want to puke. I also really resent that the men who run both political parties seem to think Jackie the ultimate First Lady and also see the current First Ladies as some sort of "leader among women" and then want to offer women voters twice daily updates on the fashion and tea parties of the First Lady and call that addressing women's Issues. Her marriage was a career decision for her and that is why she stayed with it, I don't begrudge her that but she certainly doesn't strike me as an authentic woman. Give me Eleanor Roosevelt any day.

Strange, isn't it, how the extreme left continues to worship the Kennedy boys and MLK,Jr., while trashing both Bill and Hillary Clinton?

But then Hillary was a threat to their candidate in 2008. Remember how the Obama campaign bowed and scraped in response to Ted's endorsement - the passing of the torch, etc.? Ted would be the man who left his girlfriend to drown.

And although Hillary has continued to be vilified for choosing to preserve her marriage and her family, I've never seen or heard anyone criticize Jackie Kennedy or Coretta Scott King.

Since both Republican and Democrat MEN in power do it and I find lying to the people you should be closest to an intolerable failure of character, I think this makes a good case for women taking over government and also religious institutions. You could write a similar article about "religious" men and their predatory sexual escapades. Clearly men just can't handle power especially those who seek it out, how much evidence do we need?

I think anytime you can educate another human being you have honored the person you have quoted. I found it eye opening that after decades of fighting for women’s rights that women are still experiencing struggles within the work force. I suppose I am consumed with work, children and family obligations. Reading this made me realize I need to have my eyes opened wider not just for myself but for my daughter as well. Thank You

Meg,

Understanding the world around you and all that is in play when you are being judged and evaluated is half the battle in getting past it. You seem to be well on your way in that regard. You're very young, but very aware. Assume the world will be yours! And yes, it can begin to be yours from your parents' home!

Much luck to you,
Patty Marseglia

Gee, thanks for mansplaining that to us, Ryan. It makes me feel much more comfortable with the way women are kept down to know that we deserve it.

Thanks for highlighting the dissonance between women's success and the lack of representation in areas of leadership. There are so many factors that contribute to this, and I'm confident that greater awareness of women's success will inspire and encourage more women to seek roles of leadership.
