The horrifying murder of an 8-year old boy in a protective Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn has sent parents in the tri-state area reeling.  Allowed to walk home from a nearby day camp for the first time, Leiby Kletzky got lost.  He asked a man for help – a man that looked like most of the other men in his neighborhood.

At this writing, over 46,000 people have ‘liked” the Facebook memorial page for 22-year-old Yeardley Love, killed by her former boyfriend and fellow University of Virginia student George Huguely. I ran across and interesting article in the Wall Street Journal (blog) regarding a new role for Mattel’s Barbie; attract girls to go into computer science.  It seems that Mattel asked the public to choose the next career direction that the doll would pursue and the public chose Computer Engineering.
