Blaming Amy

Nov 2, 2011 | 4 Comments

Two weeks ago today, a college friend communicated some shocking news: our sorority sister and dear friend, Amy Friedlander, was dead. Amy was part of a murder-suicide in which her two young children, and husband, with whom she was days away from finalizing a divorce, were also found dead.
The media that morning described a Westchester home so bloody, that it was not possible to discern, who murdered who. Big mystery, right? Even if I hadn’t known Amy, I could have made a very educated guessed. Women account for 85% of …

Greta Interviews Tucker Carlson About Controversial Tyson Post

Sep 20, 2011 | 3 Comments

Cross-posted from Sheya.com with the permission of the author. The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Both Greta and Tucker make good arguments. Tucker makes a good argument that had this story been about any other Democrat women it would have been national headlines. Greta makes a good argument that the editors note in the post came a little too late.
What Tucker doesn’t get is that while the story would have been national news had it been about Hillary Clinton, the …

Secretary Clinton (Sept. 16, APEC’s Women and the Economy Summit):
”To make it real, to achieve the economic expansion we all seek, we need to unlock a vital source of growth that can power our economies in the decades to come. And that vital source of growth is women.“

Fall’s Biggest Fashion Trend is Politics

Aug 31, 2011 | 6 Comments

This September, the question is not what’s in Vogue, but who’s in Vogue – and Elle and Glamour. The answer: powerful female politicians and activists talking policy from all across the ideological spectrum.
Vogue interviewed Christine Lagarde, the recently appointed managing director of the International Monetary Fund. Although the profile centered on her “oatmeal-hued suit,” “bandbox-neat” appearance, and overall “elegance,” it also discussed her “classically liberal” leanings towards Adam Smith’s economic thought, meaning her preferences for “free trade and minimal government intervention, positions usually associated with conservatism.” Further, it quoted her …
