How Media Entertainment Defines Gender and Values

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a study was conducted in 2010 to determine the amount of time children between the ages of 8-18 years of age spend using entertainment media, which includes TV, cells, internet, ipods, and video games. Recently a colleague of mine at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation forwarded the following article to my attention - ‘Math is for Boys’ Stereotype Still Alive by Valerie Strauss. The synopsis of Ms. Strauss’ article is that by second grade girls and boys express the stereotype that ”math is for boys” but not for girls.
