Subtly recycling the “destruct” Palin strategy in light of her undeniable successes

Jul 22, 2010 | 8 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
At first Glance,  John Nichols article in The Nation, “ After She Shakes Up Another Primary, It’s Time for a Sarah Palin Rethink” seems like an innocuous recognition of Palin successes, and even more, the title suggests a that there has been a reconsideration of previously held pre-conceptions and judgments about her. But don’t be fooled.
Not recognizing Palin’s successes at this point is highly stupid. This piece is the start of a strategy, “even …

Jane Addams, a Pro-woman unites and empowers immigrant women in the early XX century

Jul 13, 2010 | One Comment

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
While doing research on the evolution of immigration law and the diminishing optimism about assimilation as the sources of immigration change, I found that most of the literature is described in terms of  men. Women, when mentioned, are mentioned in general terms as “women and children”.  However, I found an interesting passage about Jane Addams, a pro-woman who united and organized immigrant women to face the daily hostility from …

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Cherie Blair has been promoting the cause of Widows for over 5 years, as an issue that greatly impacts women in the US and the rest of the world, in terms of their economic and social status.

Congressional Caucus for Womens Issues Interview with President of WPI

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Some important elements of participation in the political process include the associations the politicians and elected officials make in order to advance a particular constituency that has specific needs and represents in itself a political force (in terms of numbers as potential voters, and in terms of economic critical mass).  These organizations build and coordinate efforts to pass legislation that  address specific needs of these groups.  Thus, …

Is McGinnis a bully and a Peeping Tom harassing Sarah Palin?

May 28, 2010 | 23 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
The “journalist” McGinnis is renting the house next door to Sarah Palin’s home because he is writing a book about her. She is so “uninteresting” that she deserves all this attention. But he cannot submit to conventional and even unconventional “acceptable” methods for his research. He is doing it this way because she is a woman, and because not only does he have society’s consent, but a cheering crowd.
Jack Shafer …

Attack on Laura Bush is Low Blow and Unwarranted!

Apr 21, 2010 | 5 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
What could have prompted the virulent attack on the most popular US First Lady, with actually the highest approval ratings of any First Lady since this surveys have been recorded? Laura Bush is also considered a  moderate in her political views. She is a professional librarian, and has dedicated herself to Women empowerment and literacy. Why on earth would the HP publish this?
Laura Bush’s memoir comes out May 4th. …

Thank You Demi Moore

Hurray for Demi Moore for starting a conversation on twitter regarding the casual use of the word “pimping”! The Boom Box gives the summary:
“Are you using the word ‘pimpin’ as in pimping?” asked Moore. Kardashian replied, “Doesn’t everyone? LOL.”
“No disrespect I love a girls night out but a pimp and pimping is nothing more than a slave owner!” Moore retorted.
Bold counterpoint, Demi. This, of course, brought a ton of replies by fans and followers …
