What’s The Problem With The National Women’s History Museum?
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
I have always been a big fan of Meryl Streep, and even more so when I found out that she was determined to have the National Women’s Museum be more than a dream, but a reality. And not just in words, but in deeds. Ms. Streep had pledged a cool 1 million dollars to this important project. Having a museum on the Mall in DC that represents the vast contributions by women to this …

Ashley Judd Responds: “…The Conversation Is Really A Misogynistic Assault On All Women.”

In case you don’t know to what Ms. Judd is referring, let me fill you in. Recently, there has been a big brouhaha over – wait for it – her face. Yes, her face, and what some folks have decided was puffy. They came up with all kinds of reasons as to WHY this was the case. I’ll save you the suspense – they think …

She Has Already Made History, But Wants To Do More For Her Country
That would be Col. Martha McSally, who is currently running for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ seat in Arizona, the 8th Congressional District.
Since this is Women’s History Month, it is a pleasure to have someone like this about whom to write. I saw Col. McSally on TV not too long ago, and was very impressed with her forthrightness, her experiences, and her carriage. She is an impressive woman, to be sure (Photo credit: en.wikipedia.org).
How is it she made history, you might query? Well, she made history in two ways, actually. First …

HBO’s “Game Change” Facts Debunked, And The Numbers Are In
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
One would have to be living in a cave to not have known about HBO’s recent depiction of Governor Palin in their movie, “Game Change.” The movie was based on two chapters in a book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin of the same name. Tom Hanks, of all people, produced this hit piece on the former governor. To say I have lost all respect for the man is an understatement.
And then there was Julianne Moore on …

Today Marks The 101st Anniversary of International Women’s Day!
Yes, today is the 101st Anniversary of International Women’s Day. This is a timely occasion, given the continuing discussions regarding sexism and misogyny as it makes itself manifest in this country, and around the world. As I have discussed numerous times, misogyny continues to rear its ugly head in very public ways in this country, by our politicians, our journalists, our performers, our athletes, our friends, and our family members. Sadly, it is all too rampant, here, and around the world.
Take Afghanistan, for instance. The BBC reported yesterday a very …

The Worst Place In The World
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
With the riots continuing to rage on in Afghanistan, I couldn’t help but think how women were faring in Afghanistan these days. And the short answer would be, not well. In fact, Afghanistan is the worst place in the world for women. Yikes.
Honestly, I am not really surprised to learn that is the case. It was only 2 1/2 years ago that Afghanistan passed a law that affects women in ways that are difficult …

PETA Has SO Crossed The Line With This Valentine’s Day Ad
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Earlier on Valentine’s Day, a reader (h/t hc123) posted an ad from PETA encouraging people to become Vegans, but doing so in a way she, and I, found appalling. The tact they took to make their point was, well, you just have to see it for yourself:
I was practically speechless after I saw this ad, just speechless. This organization is trying to convince people to become vegans by using domestic violence? That is just …

She Runs Like A Girl
Cross posted with permission from No Quarter.
Rachel Alexandra, that is. Here is her performance in the Kentucky Oaks this year (the big filly race the day before the Derby):
The jockey, Calvin Borel, never had to do a thing – she just ran, but never into her top gear. Even still, she won by twenty lengths. Her breeder and co-owner at the time of the Kentucky Oaks, when asked if he had considered running her in the Derby said:
No sir, the Triple Crown races are to showcase the future stallions of …
