Why Aren’t More Women Becoming Physics Professors?

Apr 13, 2011 | 6 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
I interface with physics faculty for three major universities on a regular basis and am also strongly connected to physics departments in prominent universities all over the world.  Back in February I saw an article about the increase in tenured female faculty at the University of Arizona and I was excited to see just how far their College of Optical Sciences had fared compared to the rest of the university.
Even though …

Vulgar Language Plus Sarah Palin Equals Ratings Paydirt

Mar 23, 2011 | 10 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Sorry gals the secret is out.  Many of us have known it for a long time but didn’t have the energy to keep track of this foolishness on male-centric shows that are under the auspices of political comedy.  The ratings secret for all of them is to use a female vulgarism to describe a powerful woman in politics, business, what-have-you.  There, I said it.  Now that I have outed the magic secret recipe …

Olbermann’s curb kicking opens up time slot for non-viewers

Jan 25, 2011 | 6 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.  Please also see The New Agenda’s Amy Siskind quoted on this subject in a Daily Caller article Feminists cheer Olbermann’s demise.

In February 2008 I bid farewell to MSNBC and haven’t looked back.  Keith Olbermann would take every opportunity to have sexist tantrums on his show in regard to Hillary Clinton and I was at a point that I could barely control my rage toward him and the station that aired him.  How did …

Be careful, they can hear you…

If you say it enough times with enough vigor eventually they will hear it (and believe it).  It’s okay, right?  Explain how the bitch deserved it.  We didn’t mean you honey…at least not today.

Women in the NFL Workplace

Dec 30, 2010 | 10 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.

Fining Brett Favre with a $50K fine for failure to cooperate in an investigation is all the NFL thinks is necessary.  What about the sexual harassment?  5% of a single game pay is the lame, unacceptable fine.  One word comes to mind in this case…PATHETIC!

Obama’s Economic Adviser Short List

Dec 16, 2010 | 3 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
This is a very busy time in Washington, DC.  2011 is only a stone’s throw away and the Obama administration is busy negotiating over taxes and other policy provisos.  I wanted to take this time to remind you all that our buddy Larry Summers is leaving the President’s administration soon and a replacement short list is being reviewed as we speak.  We here at TNA had hoped that we would see women’s names on …

NASA Study on Arsenic-Tolerant Microbe Led by Woman

Dec 3, 2010 | 4 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.

The news titles are exciting:  NASA researcher expands ‘life as we know it’ meaning (ABC), Life on Earth, with a little arsenic (Washington Post), Arsenic may impact search for life on other worlds (Houston Chronicle), Discovery changes scientific definition of life (Calgary Herald), and the list goes on and on and on.  One thing is for sure, this research has changed the way that scientists will view the makeup of life on our planet …

Keeping Your Eye on the Prize

Cooperation is an intelligent functioning of the concept of laissez faire – a thorough conviction that nobody can get there unless everybody gets there.

What Makes You Stronger

Nov 23, 2010 | 18 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
My family and I enjoyed the newest Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 movie on Sunday evening.  I have read the entire Harry Potter series [numerous times] and as a feminist always look forward to seeing on-screen heroic acts performed by Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley.  The movie did not disappoint me in that regard.  As much as I know that Harry Potter is the main character, I also know that without …
