Adorable… And Good! Girls inspiring other Girls!
Yes, adorable can be good. The story behind this picture is about a random/fortuitous event. My sister Ale and I were at Lincoln center this July, around the fountain of the Metropolitan opera with my granddaughter Victoria. Three girls, probably 13-14 year olds who perhaps studied ballet somewhere nearby, came to the Met to take pictures of themselves within the side columns of the building (I guess dreaming of one day dancing in this building).
Victoria was running around the plaza like any toddler (and me chasing after her), and …

Is the US Press Deaf to Women’s Voices?
Is the US press deaf to women’s voices? You betcha! Six female Nobel Prize winners from all over the world join the voices of thousands and millions of women in the state of Chihuahua for the murder of a mother who demanded justice for the murder of her own daughter. And I can’t find this in the US press.
Why hasn’t the US press covered the voices of 6 female Nobel prize winners… on a matter that affects women in a particular place, but that to a greater or lesser degree …

Brazil’s First woman President vows to hire more Women to Cabinet
Dilma Rouseff was sworn in this Saturday as the first woman president of Brazil, highlighting the trend of women presidents in Latin America, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was there to congratulate her. Rousseff has vowed to open spaces for women at top government levels by appointing more women to her cabinet.
She has already started the trend, with “her security detail [which] is comprised [by] six young women, clad in black and running alongside the car through the downpour” during her inauguration.
Ms. Rouseff …

Latinos: Don’t Fall for the Sexist/Racist Charade Being Used Against Meg Whitman!
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
This is outrageous, and this has become a gender-specific strategy used to pull the rug on women politicians. Since when do we research male politicians help? Has the media reported on congressmen and their relationship to employment of undocumented laborers in their homes or their families’ farms, or how they treat them?
Look like it is now a women-only requirement to account on their household’s help (which is not women’s but the entire family’s help).
I …

Women’s History Month: Dolores Huerta, a Civil Rights Icon
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
When it comes to the Civil Rights movement, we know and teach our children a great deal about male leadership. We hear little about the great women who contributed and strengthened, and even in some cases, led this movement. This is the case of Dolores Huerta, one of last century’s most powerful and influential civil rights leaders, who through a tireless lifelong work has contributed to improve the condition …

Three Generations of Feminists meet with Amy Siskind
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Three Generations of Feminists meet with Amy Siskind in NYC, to initiate a symbolic intergenerational dialog.
I had to travel to NYC in March, and I had the illusion of having my daughter, who works in Wall Street, and her new born daughter (my first grand daughter!) meet Amy, president of The New Agenda. I wanted to introduce them to a new face of feminism that could become an attractive road in which they could …
