Gender Balance in Films?

Nov 29, 2011 | 6 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
A recent study published by the Walter Annenberg Communications Institute at USC (researchers Stacy Smith, Marc Chouetti and Stephanie Gall) was recently released.  The study surveyed the top 100 grossing films for the year 2009. The results are revealing. The researchers examined 4,342 speaking roles. Of these roles,  32.8% were female and 67.2% were men (evidencing the ratios of genders in films – a topic for another article) or approximately a 2.5/1  male -female …

Danica Patrick Competes to Succeed, Despite NASCAR’s Sexist Environment

Sep 2, 2011 | 2 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
NASCAR is divided into three parts: the Truck Series, the Nationwide Series (much like a minor league) and the Sprint Cup (the Major leagues). Although there are women competing in each level, none has more fame than Danica Patrick.
Patrick formerly was a competitor in “Indy” style racing, but announced a few days ago that she would be concentrating all her efforts next year towards competing in the Nationwide Series. Along with Jo Cobb, …

The Aftermath of the Women’s March in Egypt

Mar 11, 2011 | 5 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
On Tuesday, women in Egypt took to the streets to celebrate INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY, and presumably their male counterparts, the ones who celebrated with then at the fall of Murbark, were to join them to celebrate “ democracy coming to Egypt”… So what happened?  Did they meet with unity and celebration by their male counterpart?  Hardly- they were met with hackles, verbal assaults and shades of Lara Logan, physical and sexual assaults. More than …

Hope For Women in the Middle East, An Illusion?

Feb 24, 2011 | 10 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
It was in Tahrir Square last Friday the time for Joyus celebration in Egypt ended and the truth revealed. It was here that reporter Lara Logan was sexually brutalized. It was here that my hopes for freedom for women after the fall of Mubark fell.
Lara was, so they say, attacked by some sort of mindless mob, a mob out of control…not the “mob” that ousted Mubark…a different “mob” I guess. Perhaps the type …

Disney: No More Fairytales

Nov 26, 2010 | 5 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Disney last week said that they would no longer be producing fairy tale movies, a staple of that studio since Snow White and Cinderella, animated features starring princesses.
The net result of this move however, may be to eliminate female-centric product from the studio. None of the Pixar products thus far released has been geared to girls, and under the Disney banner its current product Tangled, is a reworking of the Rapunzel story by Grim, …

Bob Beckel: Tales of a Misogynistic Blowhard

Oct 1, 2010 | 13 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Eric Bolling has a new show on the Fox Business Channel, Money Rocks,   During a discussion of some already controversial statements made by Democratic strategist, Bob Beckel, concerning “non existent terrorists” a very heated exchange developed involving Beckel and Atlas Shrugs publisher, Pamela Geller.
The controversy started when Bolling played a clip of Beckel’s previous appearance on the show in which he stated:
Look, at some point, I know it’s sensitive here in New York and …

Pro-Women Palin Continues to Endorse Women

Jul 14, 2010 | 12 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In her continuing empowerment of conservative women candidates for office, Sarah Palin announced two more endorsements this week.  The New Agenda previously discussed several other women who Palin has endorsed.
Palin, perhaps taking a page from TNA’s request that she embrace her gender in her campaigning, has sought out ladies she calls “Mother Grizzlies” to endorse and support via speeches, fund raising and her PAC. Perhaps I am biased, but I am …

Fort Hood Civilian Officer is a True Heroine

Nov 6, 2009 | 12 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.

A civilian female police officer is being hailed as a heroine.  Sgt. Kimberly Munley is being credited with ending the rampage of muslim fundamentalist and military psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan.  Despite being shot herself, she managed to hit Hasan, who remains comatose, four times.
Sgt. Kimberly Munley responded within three minutes of receiving reports of shots being fired by Hasan, who according to witnesses was exclaiming “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) as he began his terrorist rampage.  Hasan killed thirteen individuals …

Sexism Alert: Testosterone Needed for International Finance?

Oct 10, 2009 | 5 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
I made a big discovery yesterday. Those of you who do not have testosterone running through your bodies are apparently unqualified to discuss international finance.
Recently Gov Palin wrote an article discussing international finance and the decline of the dollar. She wrote in part:
The British newspaper The Independent reported today that Gulf oil producers were negotiating with Russia, China, Japan and France to replace the dollar in pricing oil …

Why I Will Vote for a Women in 2010

Sep 29, 2009 | 10 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In 2010  we will have a unique opportunity to vote for many women candidates, ultra-liberal and  right wing- conservative, Democrat and Republican.  I will vote for women this year irrespective of agenda and issues in order to finally achieve parity in office.
As many of you here are aware from my writings at TNA and Huff Po, I am a conservative white male, founder of Chippendales etc. I was involved in the woman’s movement from …
