Why Rush Limbaugh Insults Hillary Clinton

Apr 30, 2012 | 4 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In a word: fear. Suzi Parker of the Washington Post agrees and in her latest piece, notes that Limbaugh took an opportunity Thursday to belittle Secretary of State Clinton, for no reason in particular. Limbaugh must be terrified of Hillary, and her ever growing popularity. The recent Tumblr posts showing her off as the epitome of badass cool, her national popularity polling in the high sixties, and big media’s ‘Hillary as 2016 nominee’ buzz …

Media Strategist Hilary Rosen Just Stepped In It re: Anne Romney…

Apr 12, 2012 | 54 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In the name of carrying the political water for the Democratic Party, media strategist Hilary Rosen’s interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper created a mini-firestorm as she attempted to paint Republican candidate Mitt Romney as out of touch with women by painting his wife, Ann Romney as out of touch, too.  Here are her remarks as recorded by The Washington Free Beacon:
ANDERSON COOPER: To the Romney campaign’s point, they say they’re focusing on the economy, …

Has Hillary Become Cool? And How Long Will It Last?

Apr 9, 2012 | 8 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Actually, Hillary Clinton is the same dedicated policy wonk and tireless, crusading tough cookie she has always been. It is everyone else who is looking at her through a different lens. The question is, why? As Rachel Combe details in her favorable Elle Magazine write up, At the Pinnacle of Hillary Clinton’s Career, “she has purportedly won over her harshest critics”:
“Most of [them], including Republicans, have gone silent or even changed their tune. As …

Dirty Words on Clean Skin – Today’s Real War on Women

Mar 29, 2012 | 8 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In 2008, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama waged an epic battle for the presidential nomination that captured the imagination and hopes of millions, but the joy of watching a qualified woman vie for the presidency was marred by newsmen and pundits calling Hillary Clinton a hellish housewife, Nurse Ratched, she-devil and bitch.
What I witnessed made the bile rise in my throat from such a deep place, I felt compelled get off the sidelines and …

Andrew Sullivan Has To Dig Deep for a Reason to Insult Hillary

Mar 26, 2012 | 8 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Per an article in the Daily Caller, last Friday’s “Overtime” segment of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” featured Newsweek columnist and blogger Andrew Sullivan taking a swipe at Secretary of State Clinton while exalting former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.  Wendy Schiller, associate professor at Brown University, argued with Andrew Sullivans’ claims that:
“[Thatcher] absolutely used her femininity, her beauty, her wit [and] her humor to run rings around these stupid men around her” …

ABC’s Jake Tapper Gives Bill Maher a Chance To Defend Himself – To Little Avail

Mar 20, 2012 | 28 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Jake Tapper recently spoke with Bill Maher, offering him a chance to set the record straight about the misogynistic comments he often directs at women.  Tapper noted that conservatives are complaining that Rush Limbaugh should not be the only one singled out for his vile words regarding Sandra Fluke when liberal commentators get away with demeaning conservative women all the time.  But Tapper’s premise is incorrect on its face.  Liberal men also make disgusting comments about liberal …

Misogynists on the Left Trash Limbaugh While Giving Themselves a Pass

Mar 7, 2012 | 62 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
A spate of articles have popped up taking hypocritical lefty men to task for tearing into Rush Limbaugh. While Limbaugh’s comments about Sandra Fluke were disgusting, men like Chris Matthews, Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, Jack Cafferty, Ed Schultz and many more regularly engage in similar practices, with no consequence.
As Karen Tumulty of WaPo points out in her article, Rush not the only culprit, left guilty of misogyny too:
Over on the Daily Beast, columnist Kirsten …

Adele: An Artist on Her Own Terms

Feb 14, 2012 | 4 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Watching the 23-year-old Adele collect six well deserved Grammy awards last night, I felt compelled to cheer, not just for her talent, but for the fact that she does not allow herself to be a cookie cutter performer.  Female artists in the music business are often pressured to have a Barbie body and particular sound or style.  It is not only refreshing but heartening to see someone succeed so wildly by being exactly who she is.
Adele …

Do We Need More Sexists in the Senate?

Jan 26, 2012 | 4 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Should a man who owns a blog that publishes posts such as “Sexy vs. Skanky,” “Dating Advice for Girly Girls,” “He Stole My Weed” and “High Quality Dope” run for U.S. Senate?
According to the New York Times, Marc Cenedella, “a Republican businessman laying the groundwork for a possible run for a United States Senate seat in New York” against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, just took responsibility for publishing a blog with these kinds of offensive …

Food Is Not the Enemy. My Body is My Friend.

Jan 5, 2012 | 5 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
I went on my first diet at age eleven.  It was my dirty little secret.  Perhaps having a gorgeous, shapely mom who had a habit of telling me I needed to “watch it” was a contributing factor.  Cool girls in my sixth grade class who made fun of me because I had baby fat on my tummy didn’t help.  The coup de grace was when Mom took me shopping and told the saleslady, “Give her the next size …
