Considering that women comprise the majority of college students these days, it’s easy to take currently available educational opportunities for granted. The drive and courage of females from previous generations — ones where simply being born with two X chromosomes meant a lifetime of treatment as a second-class citizen — made it all possible for today’s students, researchers and professors to indulge their passions, …

Female Alphas: SyFy Needs to “Imagine Greater”
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Okay, I’ll admit it. I watch the SyFy Channel. For the uninitiated, “SyFy” is the cable channel formerly known as the “Sci-Fi Channel” where one used to be able to find reruns of shows like Star Trek and Night Gallery.
However, in an effort to branch out beyond its reliable demographic of 18-24 year old fanboys, it rebranded itself and began showing programming ostensibly designed to appeal to a broader audience. As a woman …

He laments that after she worked diligently for nearly a year to get this agency up and running, she will not be running it. In fact, she will not be …

Congressman Allen West stated publicly that Congresswoman and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (DWS) is not a lady? Not a lady? What is it that constitutes a lady anyway and what definition of the word did West use that Wasserman Schultz does …

Michele Bachmann and Migraines: Presidential Disqualifier or Sexism?
The following article written by TNA Board Member Lara Brown is featured at The Huffington Post.
This Reuters photo of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) accompanied a report on Bachmann’s migraine headaches in The Minnesota Post on July 21, 2011.“I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered together at the White House — with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.” This humorous remark was said by John F. Kennedy at a dinner honoring forty-nine Nobel Laureates on April …

Adorable… And Good! Girls inspiring other Girls!
Yes, adorable can be good. The story behind this picture is about a random/fortuitous event. My sister Ale and I were at Lincoln center this July, around the fountain of the Metropolitan opera with my granddaughter Victoria. Three girls, probably 13-14 year olds who perhaps studied ballet somewhere nearby, came to the Met to take pictures of themselves within the side columns of the building (I guess dreaming of one day dancing in this building).
Victoria was running around the plaza like any toddler (and me chasing after her), and …

Wacky, Know-Nothing Women Need Not Apply!! Why Do We Still Resist Women In Leadership?
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Just after my election as president of the Homeowner’s Association in our town home complex in 2004, an older male neighbor stood nose to nose with me and said “you really need to get some men on the board because women don’t know how to do anything.”
Initially drafted to the position, I worried about receiving “who the hell does she think she is” snipes every time I made a decision or gave …
