The New Agenda commends President Obama for his selection of Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz as DNC Chair.

Rep Wasserman Schultz is a true advocate for women and women’s issues. She is also an outspoken supporter of increasing women’s representation in politics and has taken an active role in supporting other women candidates of her party.

Having Rep Wasserman Schultz as DNC Chair is a huge victory for women.

You can read about Rep Wasserman Schultz here.

this news makes me thrilled! Also so happy to see Donna Brazile named interim. I respect both women greatly! The times are a-changing! Yeah!

I’m not at all happy to see Donna Brazile have a role after her misbehavior in the primaries. Her rabid support of Obama and lack of support for her gender (Hillary) does not make me hopeful that she will be an advocate for women now.

Gosh, I guess the Democrat Party really IS a pro-woman party! And obama really really likes us!
    Yeah right.
But congratulations to Rep. Wasserman Schultz anyway on her new position.

Congrats to Rep Wassmeran Schultz! I’ve always liked her.

Donna Brazile is hardly a favorite of mine considering her treatment of Hillary during ’08 so I can hardly express happiness about her role as interim. Actually, I can hardly say her name without feeling a bit of acid in my stomach!

And yet… it is further representation for women. So I will try my best to look at the silver lining here.

Donna Brazile is an Obot. Congrats to Rep. Wasserman Schultz. There is no circumstance that would make me vote for Obama after the sexism unleashed by his campaign in 2008. At any point he could have showed some nads and stood up and said “cut the offensive sexism and show respect to women candidates regardless of their party”. He still hasn’t done that.

I am so pleased to see this! I have enormous respect for Wasserman Shultz, and my understanding is that she is the first female to head either the DNC or the RNC. This is progress and important for all of us…regardless of party.

Congratulations to Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but for me it’s just too darn late for the Dem party.

I’ve spent time with the Congresswoman and I can tell you first hand she truly gets it. She knows how important it is to get women into positions of power and is truly committed to this notion.

Her appointment is a true victory for women.

I am happy that a woman will run the DNC. It is a victory for women. I just wish I didn’t also see it as a pat on the head from Obama to say, “See I really do support women.” Actions speak louder than nominations. I also believe it is an attempt to win the delegates that Hillary won in Florida. We’re just not that stupid.

The timing is too conveniently timed with obama’s announcement of his running again and needing women’s support. He knows millions have not forgotten his sexist campaign and his deafening silence during it.

If only he had done this at the beginning of his presidency, rather than now, I could be more excited about Wasserman-Schultz. There were no other women, other than Brazile, who could have been chosen interim? Sounds like she was placed there to keep an eye on Wasserman-Schultz.

This selection looks and feels so politically motivated and I’ve learned to be suspicious of any move by obama that looks like he really cares about women and their role in government.

I will reserve my judgement until we see exactly what kind of influence Wasserman-Schultz will have in the party and how that influence will play out as it relates to more women in power. Time will tell.

Congrats to Rep Wasserman Schultz on becoming DNC chair.

Have to say I wish this had happened 4 years ago instead of now. Then it would have been greeted with all the unabashed joy it deserves.
