Our Rebuttal to Naomi Wolf Picked up by The Guardian UK

Dec 8, 2010 | 4 Comments

Our rebuttal (see full article on story down) has been picked up overnight by The Guardian UK:
9.41am: There’s been an almighty backlash to a piece in the Huffington Post by the writer Naomi Wolf defending Julian Assange against the rape charges.
In a sarcastic open letter to Interpol, Wolf wrote:
As a feminist, I am also pleased that the alleged victims are using feminist-inspired rhetoric and law to assuage what appears to be personal injured feelings. That’s what our brave suffragette foremothers intended.
The piece provoked hundreds of hostile comments. …

On Julian Assange, Naomi Wolf and Trivializing Rape

Dec 7, 2010 | 21 Comments

The following piece is featured at The Huffingon Post.
Dear Naomi Wolf,
Imagine our relief today upon reading your letter to Interpol defending Mr. Assange. Those Swedes just don’t understand. C’mon – what’s wrong with “using his body weight to hold her down in a sexual manner“?  Or “deliberately molested…in a way designed to violate her sexual integrity.”  She must have asked for it.
That’s why we are so fortunate to have women like you, Ms. Wolf, who ‘get it’.  It’s so important that we maintain our culture of …

Lady Columbia, Roll On!

Dec 6, 2010 | 2 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Lady Columbia, that rare female embodiment of the United States, made an appearance last week in the Washington Examiner:

Politics aside, it’s nice to see America show her feminine side!
Examiner cartoonist Nate Beeler presents Lady Columbia as a stately, elegant personification for the United States. No quivering, rickety legs on her, as we’ve come to expect from Uncle Sam!
It’s also heartening to see America’s ladylike alter ego carrying the shield of diplomacy. She is clearly …

Patty Murray & The Double-Edged Sword

Dec 5, 2010 | 7 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Senator Murray with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Coming off a tough campaign with her Republican challenger Dino Rossi, Senator Patty Murray faces another difficult challenge; Murray was recently appointed chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) by Senate leader Harry Reid.  In appointing her, Reid stated that “it is critical that we have an experienced, strong hand steering the DSCC.”   But his support did not stop the snipping of unnamed Democratic strategists who …

Justin Elliott (of Salon.com) Trivializes Rape

Dec 4, 2010 | 11 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
In a piece published at Salon.com on Wednesday regarding Julian Assange, I was literally stunned by a remark from one of their writers, Justin Elliott, which demonstrably trivialized the crime of rape.

A brief summation for those that may not be following the WikiLeaks story:
Julian Assange, the founder and leading voice for WikiLeaks has inspired both fear and loathing, but also admiration and adulation for his work in revealing classified information from the US government. …

NASA Study on Arsenic-Tolerant Microbe Led by Woman

Dec 3, 2010 | 4 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.

The news titles are exciting:  NASA researcher expands ‘life as we know it’ meaning (ABC), Life on Earth, with a little arsenic (Washington Post), Arsenic may impact search for life on other worlds (Houston Chronicle), Discovery changes scientific definition of life (Calgary Herald), and the list goes on and on and on.  One thing is for sure, this research has changed the way that scientists will view the makeup of life on our planet …

Because Dick Morris is a Jackass

Dec 2, 2010 | 13 Comments

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.  This piece is cross-posted with permission from Taylor Marsh.
The fact that this current State Department covert operation was initiated under Secretary Rice does not lessen Hillary’s guilt for having pursued it. Mrs. Clinton, not Miss Rice, has run for president and is presumed to continue to be interested in the job. Her addiction to spies, dumpster divers, sleuths, and negative research operatives has always been a cause for concern. – “Up to …
