Telling Amy’s Story – Domestic Violence Documentary
December 28, 2010
by The New Agenda
|The following documentary stars Mariska Hargitay who plays Detective Olivia Benson on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and founded the Joyful Heart Foundation (JHF). JHF is a partner with The New Agenda in MADE (Moms and Dads for Education to Stop Teen Dating Abuse).
Told by the detective who led the case review, Telling Amy’s Story follows the time line of a domestic violence homicide that occurred in central Pennsylvania on November 8, 2001.
While we will never be able to change the ending to Amy’s story, we hope that its telling can change outcomes for the millions of victims, survivors, and loved ones affected by
domestic violence everyday.
Produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting, Telling Amy’s Story will be broadcast on PBS stations nationwide beginning June 1. Companion materials will be available to help you SHARE this film, DISCUSS it with others, and REFER those in need to domestic violence resources.

encourage you to do the same. you will not forget the story and act if you see some women with that type of jealous husband. as so often the murder happens just when she is finally ready to put an end to the abuse. there were so many signs. but we honor privacy and believe the fake show of authority over her life the victim displays until it is too late.
let’s help that this video triggers a public outcry which cannot be silenced.
