Oh, the irony.  Brown is the clown who came to town and turned respect for women upside down.

Jerry Brown’s Contempt for Women (& CA-NOW’s Endorsement) UPDATED!

Oct 9, 2010 | 63 Comments

UPDATE: Politico is reporting that Jerry Brown also has questioned the effectiveness of mammogram testing. Check out the video for another clear example of how Jerry Brown tramples upon and tries to dominate women. His treatment of Susan Estrich in the clip is appalling. This is the man CA-NOW endorsed, over the woman?

Latinos: Don’t Fall for the Sexist/Racist Charade Being Used Against Meg Whitman!

Oct 8, 2010 | 8 Comments

This is outrageous, and this has become a gender-specific strategy used to pull the rug on women politicians.   Since when do we research male politicians help? Has the media reported on congressmen and their relationship to employment of undocumented laborers in their homes or their families’ farms, or how they treat them?
Look like it is now a women-only requirement to account on their household’s help (which is not women’s but the entire family’s help).
I …

Professor Nan Johnson
When I was an undergraduate optics student at the University of Rochester I took my first Women Studies course in my senior year to cover a political science requirement.  The course was “Women in Politics” and it was taught by Professor Nan Johnson.  It was my first classic “feminism” course, my first class with a female professor, and my first class (of two) with Professor Johnson.
One of the lessons that I learned …

There is pink everywhere–even on NFL football players!
Last month was Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.  Did anyone even know about it?
Is it because Prostate Cancer is not as severe as Breast Cancer?

The following email alert was sent out to our list last week.  If you would like to receive email alerts, sign up here.
It sure has been a busy September!
TNA has become the media’s “go-to” organization for women and our issues.
Here’s some highlights:

Passing the Paycheck Fairness Act – we argued the importance of passing this bill on CNBC’s The Kudlow Report.  Next stop:  an op-ed at The Huffington Post.
Replacing Larry Summers – we spoke out in POLITICO, on NPR’s All Things Considered and on Marketplace Radio’s Morning Report to demand …

The Tide is Turning for Meg Whitman

Oct 3, 2010 | 23 Comments

This article has been revised and cross-posted from Peacocks and Lilies.
Several developments this weekend in the California gubernatorial campaign have turned the tide in that race. The New Agenda covered the initial flap over undocumented worker “Nicky” Diaz Santillan, the former housekeeper for the Whitman family. We explained how the political smear was actually an attempt at provoking sexism (among other -isms) against Meg Whitman as a candidate:
With few exceptions such charges against female politicians spell the end of that opportunity (and thus that particular career trajectory); such charges rarely …
