Making Candidates Pay for Sexism: CA Governor Race Goes ‘Toss Up’

It’s time that politicians pay for allowing sexism.  Whether it be a sexist comment, or condoning sexism in a campaign.  We need to make sure that sexism has repercussions.  Just ask Jerry Brown.

Over the weekend, RealClearPolitics moved the California Governor Race from “Lean Dem” to “Toss Up“.

The New Agenda played a big part in calling out Brown and helping Meg Whitman. We stood by Meg Whitman and said NO! to sexism!

We appeared on MSNBC to explain that “yes”, the term ‘whore’ is offensive to men and women. We next spoke out on American Morning News Radio.

But we were just getting warmed up!

We researched Jerry Brown’s history on women and women’s issues. Which mostly indicated contempt.

We brought our research to reporter Caroline May at The Daily Caller, who wrote an article NOW endorses Jerry Brown for California Governor despite Brown Staffer calling Republican opponent a ‘whore’. Caroline’s piece was picked up all over the conservative blogosphere including two of the largest right websites: Red State (Jerry Brown – NOW More Than Ever) and Hot Air (Jerry Brown to Meg Whitman: Hey, that “whore” conversation was private).

Then we took it to the left! We wrote an op-ed at The Huffington Post: Why Hillary’s Army Should Really Around Meg Whitman, which was picked up by Meg Whitman’s Campaign and issued as a press release to all the media the very next day!

The result:  California’s Governor race is now a “Toss Up.”

What YOU can do!
Like our activism?  Like that The New Agenda speaks out for women of BOTH parties and defends women from sexism?

If you do, for only $35, support us by becoming a member today!

And help us to spread the word.

Together, we can and will end sexism!!!

I haven’t noticed the Corporate Media reporting this but Christine O’Donnell has gained 10 points in the latest poll against her opponent Chris Coons who acted condescending towards her during their debate. She had been down by 19% and is now down by 11%.

    Bes,

That is great news! The momentum is on her side. Let’s hope the upward trajectory keeps up for all of the women running!

Optixmom: Yes she does have momentum on her side. I just could not believe the negative way they framed this article but it is better than most news outlets in that they mentioned it at all. When a politician gets a 10 point rise in popularity from a debate it is simply amazing and if it were a man who managed that accomplishment it would be all over the news and in a positively spun article. The Old Boys must be stunned. I hope I get to see them more stunned on election day because she has won the Senate seat.

I don’t think the guys get it. listened to part of the O’Donnell Coons debate. he oozes male entitlement. same with Jerry Brown. this observation by Kiuku on another thread that guys talk in some coded language between them. yes, I can see it too. and the code is. women don’t belong here. it’s our the guys world. we let the vote how gracious. but no step further. these women make no sense. they talk only kitchen talk not what is important. they don’t know numbers, they have never held a job, they are not capable. if they accuse you of something they spun things out of control because they don’t know how to balance. She brought up that his family might gain from cap and trade legislation. he was offended, of course he knew no details. they would just sell some more of tiny filter parts, a miniscule component of the big operation his family has. asking conflict of interest, if he had any decency he would know the numbers and be able to defend himself. painting himself as the public servant and then being involved in family business which profits from legislation he would not recuse himself just shows his character. I think Christine O’Donnell did real well in that hostile environment.
