I wanted to share an email that I sent last week to my friends and neighbors here in New York.  For those of you new to our blog, Sen Gillibrand was appointed to take Hillary Clinton’s Senate Seat when Hillary become SOS.

Like Hillary, Kirsten puts women first!

Senator Gillibrand is one of TNA’s 10 “Women to Watch.”  She is tops in our pipeline as a possible future candidate for the White House.   WE NEED KIRSTEN!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I wanted to send a personal note about our Senator, my friend Kirsten Gillibrand.  She is up for election in November and we can’t afford to lose her.

I am sending this note to you all – Democrats and Republicans – because party does not matter.  Kirsten fights for issues that we all believe in.  As many of you know, I’ve gotten to know women politicians from all parties around the country, and I can unequivocally say Kirsten is one of the best.

I know many of us are fed up with politicians.  Maybe so disgusted that we’re avoiding the polls.  BUT DON’T!  We need Kirsten Gillibrand.

  • Kirsten bravely stood on the Senate floor to fight for Mammogram coverage in healthcare reform (one of the few);
  • Kirsten was one of the first national politicians to speak out against Hiram Monserrate;
  • Kirsten has written legislation to make quality autism treatment more affordable, improve asthma treatment for children, and ensure that drinking water and baby products are safe for consumers;
  • Kirsten is taking the lead on fighting childhood obesity;
  • She’s smart as a whip (magna cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, UCLA School of Law, former securities lawyer); and MUCH MORE…..

I saw Kirsten stand up to Valerie Jarrett at a women’s summit, in front of a large audience, and ask why President Obama has not done more to advance women’s issues and gender representation in his administration.

But mostly, Kirsten wakes up like the rest of us, drives her kids to school and then head to work at the U.S. Senate.  She’s one of us and will fight for our families.

Kirsten will fight for us.  We can’t afford to lose her!

Watch Kirsten in action fighting for women:

    Hi Amy,

    We sure do need her. As angry as I am at the sexism in the Democratic party, I will vote and I will vote for Gillibrand. I already voted for her in the primary. I too see her as a possible presidential candidate in the future. But I’m a bit concerned about the boyz club demeaning her and referring to her as “hot” rather than taking note of her intellect.

    Most of us can’t do anything but wish her good luck because we don’t live in New York. Good Luck!

    You are so right! Thanks for posting this. Bes, you can always send a check and make sure your New York friends and family vote for Gillibrand.
