Last week, I posted a summary of all the senate and governor races with women candidates. Here are a few recent polls and reports of some on these races.
Connecticut US Senate:
Linda McMahon Gaining Ground!
According to the latest poll (9/9), only a 5 point difference between McMahon and her opponent. This race is still polling “Leans Man” but there are such things as surprises!
Delaware US Senate:
A 9/27 poll shows a write-in campaign for Castle could hurt Coons more than Christine O’Donnell. Bring it on boyz! The Democratic Governors Association is sure doing their part by creating a new term “O’Donnell Republicans” in an attempt to portray them as unelectable. We’ll see about that in November.
Alaska US Senate:
Last Tuesday’s poll reports Lisa Murkowski running behind Republican Joe Miller, 27% to 43%. The Democratic candidate has 25%. The state is considered a “Solid Republican” win and most are considering the Democrat a non-entity in the race. This week, Murkowski’s write in campaign is in full gear with rumors she will run ads of the Alaskan political legend Ted Stevens who died recently. He had recorded two commercials for her before his untimely death in a plane crash. Things aren’t looking so strong so far, but Murkowski and Stevens are very popular in Alaska. History could be made with a write in win.
California Governor:
Meg Whitman is still in a an annoying dead tie with former governor Jerry Brown. It has been since the beginning of the campaign despite the millions spent by Meg Whitman. In the final months, her campaign is getting creative, even using Bill Clinton in a television ad to expose Jerry Brown’s problem with the truth. Let’s hope the voters of California choose the future over the past on this one.
Please post any interesting, encouraging or exciting news about women candidates in the comment section.
