TNA speaks out for Romers in POLITCO

|In an article titled Romer disputes friction at W.H., The New Agenda’s Amy Siskind had this to say about the unexpected resignation of Council of Economic Advisers Chairwoman Christina Romer:
Amy Siskind, president and co-founder of The New Agenda, an organization working to advance women in leadership roles, said Romer’s departure speaks to a “boys’ club” vibe within the White House. Siskind pointed out that Treasury Secretary Tim
Geithner had initially been hesitant to endorse Elizabeth Warren to head the new Consumer Protection Bureau, and that Summers stormy, five-year tenure as president of Harvard University ended amid allegations he was insensitive to women – charges spurred by a 2005 remark that “issues of intrinsic aptitude” among women lead to poorer performances than those of men in math and science.
“There’s a pretty unambiguous pattern here,” Siskind told POLITICO. “They’re clearly unable to work with women.”

What I have been seeing on the blogsphere is that individuals are saying, “she wanted to leave to pursue other opportunities,” or “two years is the average for any economic adviser.” So I say, if there wasn’t this mass exodus of women from the economic group and if there were more women in the pipeline to come in then fine. But there is a mass exodus when the women on your committee are gone, and there are no women in the pipeline to come up and be advisers.
And why can’t Larry or Timmy’s time be up if 2 years is the average? Hmmm?
How about we clean the whole lot out and replace them all with new women. I think that sound a whole lot more palatable.
They should replace them all with women. Clearly, between her, Warren, and Brooksley Born, the ONLY PEOPLE who saw ANYTHING going awry in time to avert the crisis were ALL WOMEN, and the only people who refused to change course were men.
Men have no aptitude for math, apparently. I mean, this can’t be coincidence. O:-)
amen to optimox and janis
thanks new agenda for speaking up
