re “… leadership now!” by Amy Siskind, with whom I rarely, if ever disagree.

We needed that leadership from then through now, but what we got was her miserable, puppet-like performance as Secretary of State.

Among many other things, the U.S. was mum and Ms. Clinton has been AWOL during the Iranian uprisings, the seating of Iran in the UN Council for Status of Women, the seating of Libya in the UN Council for Human Rights, the castigation and abandonment of Israel, the call for admission of Armenian genocide wrought by Turkey, and acquiescence to nations that violate human rights. During this same time, she has misstated U.S. crimes of abuse and bigotry, including slave trafficking.

In light of these, go back and read “Save our Mother.”

I expect and reject the rebuttal that Hillary Clinton was duty bound to serve at the pleasure and direction of Obama, and these issues are the responsibility of Susan Rice.

I would have rather seen her go rogue, (a la Sara Palin, but she did not.

@Bes re “… important to have [gender] parity in government….”

I will always agree that gender parity ought to be the norm, given equal opportunity and statistical happenstance.

But, gender parity is insufficient, Though anecdotal, every Independent and Republican woman and man I know rejects socialism and shariaism as being repressive to individual liberty and equality. At the same time almost every Democrat woman I know has, more or less, excused these oppressive social constructs, depending on the political discussion of the moment.

I see a similarity with regard to socialism and shariaism and women in high places in our politics and media — too many excuses, concessions, obfuscations, and diversions — if not total ignorance.

At these time-critical moments, we must go right to the top, and hammer on those who ought to speak out.

What has she said? Exactly. I’m sick and tired of this garbage accusation nonsense that’s been all over the place. People SAY that Sarah Palin wants Christian fathers to rape their kids so she can make a million dollars charging them for rape kits and wants to put birth control sex-ed teachers in the public stockades. They SAY it … and that doesn’t make it true.

PROVE IT. Don’t just come in here with your Righteous Liberal Wrath steaming out of your nose and act all coffee-house outraged. We want exact words, and your EXACT REASON for disagreeing with them, or hit the road.

Recovered, you provide a good example of the double standard we have for demanding perfection of women and holding them accountable if they fail to achieve it. Not just accountable for themselves, but accountable for all the problems in the world. To call Clinton’s work as SOS a “miserable puppet like performance,” is astounding. I know rabid right wingers who grudgingly acknowledge that she’s done a good job and been very competent as SOS. Her poll numbers reflect that.

You said, “I would have rather seen her go rogue.” Actually, me too, but what she is doing is serving her country. She set aside her own desires and some of ours, and made the best out of a bad situation. I honestly believe she is one of the few grown ups in this administration, and all that stands between us and a complete foreign policy disaster. If I had her integrity and her “servant’s heart” I would have taken the SOS position, too. LOL, I don’t. But she does. She cares about her country more than anything else and that is why she is SOS.

I am completely behind Sarah Palin. I am totally fed up with the Dem party. Oddly enough, it is now Hillary’s politics that concern me, because she will never distance herself from the Dem party which I happen to believe must be torn down and rebuilt before it ever has any redeeming qualities again.

Very interesting article in Newsweek on the sexualization of conservative women in politics, author calls it “creepy.” Worth reading. I guess if you reduce women to sex objects they are less threatening to society, and we know that any woman who has a mind of her own whether conservative or liberal is a threat to society.

@yttik, and with respect for your opinions here and elsewhere. I do understand the points you are making in the first paragraph.

Re, “… a good example of the double standard we have for demanding perfection of women….”

To me, the six examples and two allusions I listed are extremely serious, and several are particularly detrimental to women’s rights and equalities. I promise you that I would be equally appalled and scathing, if our Secretary of State were a man.

I recognize that the blame for omission or commission might be more directly put on the heads of Barack Obama or Susan Rice. But, Hillary Clinton sought and attained her high position. As such, we ought expect more from her, in spite of what you or I might actually do under similar circumstances. But, at some point, I would hope — and, actually have, out loud to others — that she would speak up (not necessarily step down). Humanity and this country before party and ambitions. Although, the companion article, ‘Save Our Mother,’ would have still been needed.

I largely agree with your second and third paragraphs, and in certain ways regret that she lends the only credibility to this administration and the Democratic Party. But, I also wonder if it, undeservedly, extends Obama’s political credibility and longevity, especially when our country comes down on the dark side.

I suppose I might understand things better, and in a kinder light, when I read her memoir ten or twenty years from now. I will check back tomorrow, in case you have something else for me to think about. 73

    Recovered:

“Hillary Clinton sought and attained her high position.”

No, she didn’t. Obama approached her and asked her to take it. She declined at first, but he persisted. As a result of his “reaching out to Hillary”, I believe she had no choice because had she not accepted, all of the obots would have screamed that she was a “sore loser”, a “bitter woman who was willing to do anything to win…” and on and on, while praising obama for reaching out to her. Had she refused obama’s offer to be his SOS, his Chicago thugs would have conveniently leaked her refusal to the obama loving press and they would have ravaged her again, just as they did throughout the primary. As a woman, Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t do something the men think she should. That “double standard” yttik was talking about again raises its ugly head against any woman who dares to not be perfect, despite the fact that NOT ONE OF THE MEN WHO CONTINUE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THESE POWERFUL WOMEN HAVE EVER LIVED UP TO THESE IMPOSSIBLE STANDARDS THEMSELVES. Now why is that?

I never cease to be amazed at the male mentality to be able to totally ignore their’s and other male’s own major short-comings, while attacking without reservation any women for the slightest misstep. How can you be so obtuse about this glaring double standard and live with yourself, not to mention the balls to think you are superior?

    @Kathleen Wynne — Part 1

    First and third paragraphs:
You cite my, “Hillary Clinton sought and attained her high position.” The only things to quibble about are the personal pronoun ‘her,’ and whether I could or should have written ‘position’ as a plural noun. The following are indisputable. She has sought high position. She has achieved high position. I ask you to take my word on this. I supported and defended her during her quest to serve.

You have no evidence that I am guilty of “… male mentality to be able to totally ignore their’s and other male’s own major short-comings.” Nor, is it possible for me to prove otherwise. All I can do is ask you to read all of my comments, and show me where I have written anything that supports your accusation.

With the same reasoning, I deny, and you cannot show in my writing: “How can you be so obtuse about this glaring double standard and live with yourself…,” and “… not to mention the balls to think you are superior?” In fact, you will only find comments that call for and support equality, liberty, and an end to bigotry.

In my next comment, I will address your middle paragraph, which takes a bit of work. First, please read my comment further above which begins with, “re ‘… leadership now!’ by Amy Siskind…,” and note errors or disputable claims — excepting, only for the moment, “… and Ms. Clinton has been AWOL.”

Then, it would be helpful to follow the exchange between yttik and myself.

    @Kathleen Wynne — Part 2
    Middle paragraph:
Now for the finale, which will be difficult to cast, and which you may at first think is a diversion and verbose.

A similar oath is taken by everyone who serves, from E-1, through every echelon, all the way to the coequal Branches of our Government (so, I won’t list the Commander in Chief separately). “… To protect and defend The Constitution of The United States of America….” I hope, but cannot prove, that everyone who takes that oath, understands it, believes in it, and upholds it. It is all about the most liberating and progressive document and country on the face of the earth. So, it extends beyond our borders and peoples. It stands for “Liberty and Justice for All.” Many, as I do, believe it is about all humankind — with no distinction for gender, race, ethnicity, country of origin, ….

From the E-1 up, there are other clearly stated requirements, including “… to obey all lawful orders….” But, then there are requirements that are not quite as precise and distinct. [I will not be talking about the 'Medal of Restraint' with which I have much dispute.] Sometimes, with all hell breaking loose and under great personal peril, the lower echelons are expected to not obey orders. To stand up for what is right. Often, they must put themselves in greater jeopardy for the protection of innocent life, sometimes mere property.

And, now I reinsert “… and Ms. Clinton has been AWOL.” I do somewhat agree with you that, “… Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t….” At worst, she would be temporarily compromising her political standing. At best, she would have received high praise from me and others.

I sense what your next thought is, so I restate from a reply to yttik, “… she lends the only credibility to this administration and the Democratic Party. But, I also wonder if it, undeservedly, extends Obama’s political credibility and longevity, especially when our country comes down on the dark side.”

I do understand, sympathize with, and secretly applaud your stepping up to defend her. And, that is the best I can do.

RD why don’t you take your Obamabot butt out of here. You may call yourself RD but I doubt you worship at any alter other then that of Obama. You show up on every thread to insult Hillary. Why? Does she make your little teeny weeny Peeny excited or does she make it appear quite small. Perhaps you think you are cool when in fact you sound like the people who attack Palin desperate.
So why are you smashing Hillary oh yeah because she is the best Secretary of State. You have your butt in an uproar because you know there is a movement to make sure she primaries your Master. Guess what you foolish little man she is going to run and she is going to kick his sorry behind to the curb of course if he had any decency he wouldn’t run. So again why are you on this blog there is no place on here for a sexist pig like yourself. Fly away little man Hillary is going to be President hope your head doesn’t explode.
Maybe then to really tick you off she will be followed by Palin and several other women of both parties. Perhaps then we can have quality leadership not the last two yahoos.
Oh by the way Obot your tactics have been the same since you trolls were created.

    I am not an Obamabot.

Invectives such as yours are among the tactics of Obamabots. They didn’t work against me during the primary and general elections, in face to face confrontations. They won’t work now.

Do you disagree with what our Constitution promises, which is what we claim to seek?

Do you find the oath “To protect and defend,” to be quaint, trivial, or empty?

Should we expect more from the most junior of our protectors and servants, than from those in higher office?

I stated some of the indisputable facts of how our country, led by Obama, has come down on the dark side. Do you want to let him off the hook, or anyone else in this administration off the hook?

It seems to me that you, Bes, Janis, and Kathleen Wynne savor flame-wars. But, notice that in the one Bes insisted on, she ended up using a very unacceptable, bigoted comment that wasn’t even directed at me — it just slipped out so easily. I adhere to the simple suggestions for posting on this site. Be nice. Keep it clean. Stay on topic. No spam. Otherwise, you will end up embarrassing yourselves. Perhaps, you should read the above two-parter a little more slowly and deliberately. Then rebut it, ignore it, or report me to administration as being dishonest. And, that is as far as I will go, which is well-short of flaming.

RD has just proven than ANY woman who takes him on with facts and doesn’t back down, he immediately goes into testosterone mode and attacks her, while coveniently ingnoring those facts. He’s nothing more than a gnat on my shoulder, which I flick off with the greatest of ease.

Has everyone seen Sarah’s latest video mobilizing women to stand up and fight together in November and in 2012 against the Washington patriarchial establishment? It’s brilliant strategy to focus her attention on the largest voting block in this country and producing such an empowering video that praises women and the power they possess as a group, instead of ignoring them, like the patriarchy does, until they need something done or patronizingly asks for their votes to elect another man who they promise will be a powerful ally.

I believe Sarah is starting another movement bringing women of all political affiliations together to assert their power and demand change by putting more women into office who can actually make the kind of change we can truly believe in. It’s about time.

And if the Democrats aren’t going to do it — women included — then what the hell are we all supposed to do? Sit on our hands and wait around? Thank dawg SOMEONE’S doing it. If the Dems don’t like the voice Palin’s giving women, then they can goddamned well stop kneecapping their most inspiring women voices.
