CLEAN SWEEP: Hooray for Women in Politics!!!

Last night was a huge night for women in politics. The New Agenda congratulates all the incredible candidates that will be moving on to November or a runoff later this month. The New Agenda has featured tonight’s winners from BOTH parties extensively on our blog and in our op-ed writings (you’ll be hearing more about Angle shortly). What an exciting day for women!
In South Carolina, Nikki Haley soundly beat all three of her opponents in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Since Haley just missed the 50.1% of votes need to avoid a run-off, she will face off against Gresham Barrett, whom she beat 49%-22% last night, on June 22. As we have written on this blog, Haley survived her journey from an unknown to a “raghead” whore. If Haley wins in November, she will become South Carolina’s first woman governor.
Also a big winner last night, California’s Meg Whitman trounced her challenges and will move on to challenge Jerry Brown to become California first woman governor. Whitman formerly was CEO of EBAY.
Also out in California, former CEO of HP, Carly Fiorina handily beat her challengers to move on in her run to become a U.S. Senator. Fiorina now faces incumbent Sen Barbara Boxer in November: an exciting woman-woman battle. The New Agenda is always thrilled to see two qualified women face off and we say: “may the best woman win!” and “brava!”
Senator Blanche Lincoln pulled off an upset in Arkansas by defeating Bill Halter in the Democratic primary. Lincoln was abandoned by many on the left, and by other women’s organizations. Not The New Agenda. Amy Siskind wrote an op-ed Why I Still Stand With Blanche Lincoln and spoke to the importance of electing women.
In Nevada, Sharron Angle captured the Republican nomination and will be facing off against Senate Leader Harry Reid.
What a gratifying night for women in politics. What a great experience watching politics and seeing all the female faces!
And we say – to women of the Republican and Democratic Parties: YOU GO GIRLS!!!

I see some *real* Presidential material in this field of winners!!!
FOX was reporting last night that Barrett is being pressured to drop and let Haley proceed to general in November.
We’ll need to learn more about Sharron Angle.
But what a great night for women in politics!!!
It was great fun to watch the women sweep the primaries! Woo hoo, it’s about time!! There were a lot of cracks in that glass ceiling last night, Haley could become SC first female governor. Whitman could become the first female governor of Ca.
18 million cracks my ass, it’s time to smash that fucker down. Congrats to ALL women in ALL parties! So much for the NA only celebrating right-wing women, huh?
Great news!
And LOL, Janis, you crack me up. Definitely a day to celebrate!
And I don’t want to hear a single liberal woman whine about any of this. When they went out of their back to stab the out-and-proud feminist Democrat Hillary in the back, they have absolutely no business pissing and wringing their hands over the fact that it was a good night to be a Republican or otherwise conservative-ish woman (I’m thinking Lincoln here).
I’d love to see liberal women up there celebrating and giving high fives and thumbs up to the cameras. Shit, I’m a liberal, pro-choice, pro-same-sex-marriage, anti-drilling type myself.
But if there aren’t any big-name pro-choice, feminist Dem women who can count on their party for the backing needed to win like this, then whose fault is that? And a big hint here — it’s not just Teh Menz. It’s Teh Liburul Wimminz for going out of their way to abandon liberal and moderate women candidates as loudly as possible so potential boyfriends can overhear. (You heard it here first! Palin is a moderate and always has been.)
Also, for anyone thinking, “B-b-b-b-but I can’t vote for the woman ALL THE TIME!” just consider these results: we’ve got Lincoln, Fiorina, Whitman, and Haley. All pretty smart, reasonable women that I don’t think are going to cause the Earth to turn into a blasted heath by the terrifying power of their out of control right-wing vaginas. And we’ve got Angle, whose a doof but not that bad. We’re not talking Jesse fucking Helms here, okay?
Four pretty good candidates, and one tea-partier. You know what? That’s some pretty good results. 80% above average? Fuck, you’d never get that pretending to make a big holier-than-thou stink over voting for “the most qualified candidate” (viz, the mayun) all the time, and yiz know it. Wise up. Vote for the woman, and the bar raises automatically.
And if the Dems want to capitalize on that, they know what they have to do. They can goddamned well DO IT, or they can sit in their own shit and cry for all I care.
Hey, isn’t this another one who won last night?

Congratulations also to the New Agenda for celebrating “women”. Not liberal women, not conservative women, just women. I wish there was more of that but I am encouraged to see any at all. Keep up the good work!
