Three Generations of Feminists meet with Amy Siskind in NYC, to initiate a symbolic intergenerational dialog.
I had to travel to NYC in March, and I had the illusion of having my daughter, who works in Wall Street, and her new born daughter (my first grand daughter!) meet Amy, president of The New Agenda. I wanted to introduce them to a new face of feminism that could become an attractive road in which they could …

Congratulations Kathryn Bigelow!
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
Kathryn Bigelow has triumphed overseas. And just recently, she triumphed at home and became the first woman to win an Oscar for Best Director. “There’s no other way to describe it — it’s the moment of a lifetime,” “I’d just like to dedicate this to the women and men of the military who risk their lives every day in Iraq and Afghanistan and around the world,” she added. “May they come home safe.”

International Women's Day rally, Melbourne, Australia (1975)
Happy International Women’s Day! IWD is the one day each year that women’s organizations and their supporters coordinate events to raise awareness for universal women’s rights. More attention is paid to women’s issue throughout the world on this day than any other day of the year. It is an opportunity to celebrate the political, economic, and social achievements of women, and to work to promote future achievements. A lot is going on this year, but first, since March is Women’s History Month, a brief …

TAKE ACTION: Sexist Comments against Sarah and Hillary Beckons a Response!
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
It has been a while coming, but I have gathered a COMPLETE Beck Sponsor List for both his radio show and TV show. A frequent and well-deserved complaint is that men focus too much on female politician’s appearances and ignore their policies. Glenn Beck has provided us with the most startling example of why focusing on appearance rather than policy is detrimental to everyone. On his TV show, Beck has enjoyed …

Another Woman Breaks a Barrier: Candy Crowley
CNN senior political correspondent, Candy Crowley, was recently named anchor for “State of the Union” making her the first woman with a permanent role in the Sunday morning talk shows. There is a ton of stuff to read on the internet about this great news. The Hill plays 20 questions with Candy where she discusses, among other things, her dream guests she’d love to interview and the campaigns she’s most interested …

Join NOW-NYS in Speaking out on “Parental Alienation”
From our friends at NOW-NYS:
I am writing you, the leaders of various groups that represent battered women, for your help in one of the most important matters we will address this year. The American Psychiatric Association is considering adding Parental Alienation to the Diagnosticians book, which would legitimize this legal tactic into a real disorder.
Parental Alienation Syndrome has now morphed into Parental Alienation Disorder thanks to the fathers rights organizations who are wildly pushing this through, and why wouldn’t they? It benefits the abuser …

An Uninformed Visitor Goes to NYU-ISAW Exhibit
Thanks for Marille and Nancy who sent me a cover letter by Artemis about the NYU-ISAW Exhibit The Lost World of Old Europe.
I traveled into New York City this past weekend having only a cursory knowledge of what to expect. And of course, at that time, I had not read the wonderful piece that Artemis has since posted on our blog.
Even to my extremely untrained eye, there was something terribly wrong with this exhibit. The artifacts just did not match up with the story line told on the wall …

Wow! Meg Whitman is really on a roll with the endorsements. The latest is very exciting! Californian Condoleezza Rice endorsed Meg Whitman for Governor of her home state. Per the Whitman campaign:
“California is my home and there is only one person running for Governor who can lead the way toward rebuilding our state,” Secretary Rice said. “In my experiences in and out of government, I find the most effective leaders to be those who maintain a clear vision, mobilize diverse groups, and inspire them to work together in confronting the …
