DC EVENT today: Tools for Addressing Teen Dating Violence
February 25, 2010
by The New Agenda
|The New Agenda is inviting our DC viewers to attend a lunchtime event today on teen dating violence hosted by our partner in MADE, Liz Claiborne.
Top teen dating violence experts, parents, educators and teens from around the country are gathering on Capitol Hill to draw attention to the urgent problem of digital dating abuse, and to call for increased prevention efforts.
Here’s a note from The New Agenda’s Amy Siskind:
I’ll personally vouch for how important and very real this issue has become. A girl in my daughter’s 7th grade class recently took a picture of herself in a bra and sent it to one boy – now it has been forwarded to many. So if you’re thinking, “not in my community,” think again!
Here the information on the event:
WHO:
Rodney Hammond, Ph.D., Director of Division of Violence Prevention at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, CDC
Catherine Pierce, Acting Director, Office on Violence Against Women, Department of Justice
Cindy Southworth, Safety Net Project Director, National Network to End Domestic Violence
Jane Randel, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Liz Claiborne Inc.
WHEN: February 25, 2010, 12 PM to 1:30 PM
