Why I’m Boycotting “Game Change”
A lot of folks have written to me asking what we can do about Game Change, the new book that is chock full of misogyny and sexist treatment of Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Elizabeth Edwards.
Well, given that women control the vast majority of the purse strings in this country, here’s my humble suggestion: boycott the book!!! And don’t stop there. Tell all your friends, family and neighbors to do the same. Write to the blogs you visit and comment or ask them to post a blog piece doing …

Last Call – Ohio Statuary Hall Committee
The following article is cross-posted from Lynette Long’s blog. The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
If you are still trying to figure out what happened during the 2008 election, you are not alone. If you were shocked at the persistent sexist attacks toward both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton, I am standing right beside you. If you are wondering what we can do so that this never happens again to any woman, the answer is more complex.
The 2008 election did …

Why We Need Martha
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
It’s getting desperate in Massachusetts.
Bottom line for me- we need Martha- only the 18th women in the Senate- and we can’t forget that she did support Hillary even after the delegates were released. Bill Clinton has been an early supporter and will come for her on Friday- they remember their friends and I will too. There have been many Hillary supporters who are having a problem and I understand it but …

Here’s to Joan Walsh.
Baited by Ed Schultz, she holds the line. She calls out Game Change for what it is – a piece of misogynistic crap better suited for the fireplace as timber then for the bookshelves!

Is Favreau Finished?
Is Favreau gonzo?
You’ll recall Obama’s young speechwriter who thought it was a pretty cool thing to post a picture of his drunken self groping a cardboard figure of Secretary Clinton in December 2008. The New Agenda, then a 4 month old organization, spoke out in the media to call this prankster out.
The Washington Post is reporting:
In a scene from a recent HBO documentary about the Obama campaign, the candidate’s chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau, looks exhausted after churning out a victory address following the last Democratic primary.
Asked about the tone …

Gillibrand TKO’s Spitzer
I’m proud that today on our blog we are featuring two women to watch:
Nikki Haley (R) who is running for Governor of SC. Haley is an extremely popular state politician who was just endorsed by First Lady Jenny Sanford. You can read about Haley on our website and on her website here.
Kirsten Gillibrand (D) who was appointed to take Hillary Clinton’s open senate seat.

Both of these rising stars are showing the early stuff that could track them to the White House.
For those of you new to Senator Gillibrand, …

No Longer ‘Men Only’ With Nikki Haley In the Race
The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
I’ve heard it again. “A woman can’t be elected governor of South Carolina.”
I wrote about this stupid notion last year. It’s astounding (1) that people believe this and (2) they think there is reason to believe it.
The reason why people believe a woman can’t win the Palmetto Governor’s Office is because a few backward thinking, 18th century neanderthals don’t want no woman tellin’ them what to do. Womens ain’t s’pose ta be da boss …

Giving Martha a Mulligan
A few days ago, I wrote a piece over at HuffPo titled Save Us Martha! imploring AG Coakley to change her vote on health care reform. In doing so, I believe, that she would instantly propel herself into a leadership role for women’s advocacy, independent voters, and possibly a shot to the White House.
Chances are, she won’t change her vote. But borrowing a phrase from Optixmom, I’m going to give Coakley a mulligan and stand with her anyway. I’m asking that our friends at other blogs and groups that sprung …

Gender Equality is Here, and Other Media Myths that Keep Unconscious Bias Alive
This piece is cross-posted with permission from Glass Hammer. The opinions expressed herein and those of the author, and not necessarily those of The New Agenda.
The Economist kicked off the year with Rosie the Riveter on the cover, proclaiming “We did it.” What exactly did we do?
Well, we became 50% of the workforce, generally, across all industries. We can interpret that in two ways, either as a positive advancement for women as they are able to have economic freedom by earning their own wage or that that women …
