Meg Whitman, a Republican running for governor of California, reached out to women early on in her campaign by forming a coalition of women aptly called Megawomen.

MEGaWomen, our women’s coalition, is a critical part of my campaign. Our mission is to inspire women throughout California to Recruit, Volunteer, and VOTE.

This got my attention. If a candidate is reaching out to women in such a direct and organized way, she must value our votes. That’s an absolute requirement for me. A candidate who values women’s votes wants to get those votes again come time re-election time. The best way to do that is to take action on women’s issues. That gets my vote!

But in hard times like these, it is also encouraging to see pro-women candidates offer common sense solutions for creating jobs, cutting government spending and addressing education. Meg, famous for bringing eBay from a 30 employee, $4 million per year company to a 15,000 employee, $8 billion per year global powerhouse during the 10 year period she was the company’s CEO, has a proven track record of success when it comes to solutions.

Meg Whitman’s book “The Power of Many” arrives in bookstores Tuesday and is already a best seller with Amazon sales reaching more than 45,000. I think Meg’s message it catching on and this is good news for women.

Meg Whitman is a woman to watch. So here’s a video for you: Meg Whitman on NBC’s Today Show with Matt Lauer. Go Meg!

Do you know if the incumbent is also in primary? When will the primaries be over?

Thank you, Amy, for acknowledging Meg Whitman. The days of dismissing a woman or a man running for office just because they are not affiliated with the party of my choice are gone for me. I vote for the person, not the party.

I’ve been watching and, most importantly, listening to what Ms. Whitman has been saying about how she would bring California back from the brink. She makes sense and definitely has the credentials to succeed in backing up her words with action. As we all experienced during the democratic primary, unlike what historically has been expected from the male candidates, THE WOMAN is expected to come up with solid proposals that she can put into detailed explanation as to how those proposals could be realized. Even then, we’ve seen how she is still dismissed in favor of the empty suit rhetoric often spewed by the male candidates.

Perhaps, TNA will be the leader in shining a light on this woman and her platform to other women’s groups, organizations and yes, the PUMA coalition to follow your lead in following Ms. Whitman’s run for governor of CA.

I think she definitely would do a better job than Ahhrnold!

Karen – the current Governor is termed out so the primarys for Republican and Democrat are wide open. Word has it that Jerry Brown (current GA and a previous Governor of CA) will come forward and run. He is a Democrat. However, at this point he has not done anything of signficance to put his hat in the ring, including discussing any issues that California is facing. Meg has spent the last year traveling all over CA, talking to many people, and really making a great effort to communicate her goals.

The primary is June 8th. Meg has a strong lead in the polls over her primary opponent. Her real fight will come in the general when she takes on Jerry Brown a former Cali governor. 529 Group are already gearing up to “educate” (read smear campaign) the public to the tune of $1M. If women around the country want a good solid centrist female politician on the scene, they will get involved with this election and be ready to act.

Count on the self hating left side feminists to smear and allow ridicule to be perpetuated on Ms Whitman, just as they did on HRC and Gov Palin

Jerry Brown is well known in Calif. A former governor, attorney general and mayor of Oakland( his father Pat was also governor and his sister was also involved in politics- as of late the polls show him in the lead over Meg- but much of that can be attributed to name recognition- Meg of course ran E bay and has considerable business experience.
