Rock The Vote – Using Sex for Political Messaging

For me, this video reaches new heights in the creepy use of women’s sexuality.

Huh? Could this be any creepier? Does this remind anyone else of the recent creepy Reebok ad?  I know I keep using creepy as a descriptor, but until the hair on the back of my neck goes down, that’s the best I can do.  CREEPY!

This video is degrading to both women and men. The implication is that women are too stupid, lazy, or uninformed to argue issues and explain their position - better they just show their cleavage and threaten to withhold sex. In turn, Rock The Vote thinks men are so shallow and desperate for sex that they not only have no interest in what a woman has to say, but will change their most deeply held beliefs if you dazzle them with cleavage and the possibility of a little girl on girl action.

Is there any place in the political debate where women aren’t either used as mindless sexual props, thrown under the bus when it becomes expedient, repeatedly made promises for decades that can be yanked away in the blink of an eye, or bullied to toe the Democratic party line and shut up if you are a women who disagrees or risk being not only not defended but attacked because you dared have your own opinion?

If this is a demonstration of how little Rock The Vote thinks of me, why in the world would I give their opinion on the health care debate any validity?

I think we are entering a new age of misogyny, and psychological warfare against women, when more than ever women are ignored, belittled, and dehumanized completely.

And far from this being normal male heterosexuality, as they like to excuse it as, it actually widens the gap between men and women, and creates male love for one another. Nothing against homosexuality; actually I believe all people are homosexual to a degree, but that this kind of behavior actually promotes it in men (again not that is a bad thing) rather than being an expression of normal heterosexuality. If we keep this up, pretty soon we’ll all be back in ancient greece.

I think we ought to tie young women down into chairs and make them watch every episode of Mad Men in one sitting. Then take away their access to birth control and abortion for a year. Let them search for jobs through ads labeled “Help Wanted- Female”. Keep pushing them back into the world of the 60′s until they get angry enough to do something. If they don’t, then what are we hitting our heads against the wall for? I’m sick of “but it’s fun to feel sexy”. I like to feel sexy, too, in my bedroom – not in the voting booth.

Well I can’t think of a better word than creepy and who pays to run this ad and produce it? But when these girls find out they will be taxed to pay for men’s needs and their needs will not be addressed maybe they will wake up. They simply don’t have a clue. We can only hope that when they figure it out they will be motivated to fight.

Exactly, it is hard to determine if this ad is more insulting to men or women. And you are right, we are entering a new dark age for women, where we will be marginalized, demeaned and dehumanized if we do not speak up and call the fools on it. It is like they are sending up trial ballons, let’s see what sort of boundary crossing and idiotic behavior we can get away with. And speaking of the creepy Reebok butt or boob cam commercial(depending on which version you were subjected to)–it used to be in heavy rotation in my neck of the woods–and now, nothing! There is a God!

Exactly Bes. I, we make less than men to begin with and now my income is going to be taxed to pay for their viagra and virtually none of my reproductive bodily rights. We need representation. I want my tax dollars to go to communal health care (not this patriarchal and fascist facade), communal day care, and no viagra.

I’m sorry, but there’s a huge part of me that’s like, “GOOD. Let the idiot women who brought us to this pass find out up close and in person what the bitter fruit taste like of the tree THEY helped plant.” By turning their backs on Hillary AND Sarah, they created this. They built this gallows. They should be the ones to swing from it. That’s called justice.

Unfortunately, we’re all going to swing from it. Thanks, grrlz. Really appreciated.

BTW, stop caring about whether it insults men, okay? It’s their fucking job to stand up for themselves, and they do it just fine when THEY want to. They LOVE this crap, don’t kid yourselves otherwise.

Creepy? Yes! Disgusting, humiliating, degrading, juvenile- let me not continue.
Linked here from No Quarter. Nice post- thanks!

UHMM – apparently not. Until women stand up and say “No More, Never again” what rights we have will continue to deteriorate. All we fought for is in danger of being lost.

Personally, being an old fashioned kind of parent- I would slap my kids (male or female) into the next century if they appeared in one of these ads!

This makes me weep for young women. The Lefties seem to continually push the limits of civility and morality; is debauchery all they believe in? Pretty skanky group. I like some of the articles from Robin of Berkeley on American Thinker about the Leftist Agenda to tear down morality as means to manipulate society. They almost succeeded in the 60′s…many of us recovered in time though so this is the 2nd big assault. Now I understand why my parents were so heartbroken they had to turn away.

The people in this video are in their mid or late twenties. No one in their mid or late twenties is that stupid. Teenagers aren’t that daft either. Who made this video? It’s creepy.

Obama got elected by sweeping hoards of homeless people and drug-addled degenerates by bus to the polls, and thug tactics at the polls. He also got elected by encouraging the idiot youth to “rock the vote”. This is possibly yet another tactic. The young are moronic, but they are not mindless sex drones as this video portrays. I doubt it “resonates”
