|The New Agenda wishes to express our deepest sympathy for Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney of New York. Congresswoman Maloney is a tireless crusaders for women and women’s issues.
Marcia Pappas, President of NOW NY, shared the following:
Dear Friends: It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I report to you that Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney has lost her beloved husband and partner. Late last night I spoke with her good friend Trudy Mason from New York City. She will send us more information as it becomes available.
Congresswoman Maloney wanted to make sure that you all receieved this note about Clifton and has asked that it be forwarded to all of you.
“Clifton H. W. Maloney, beloved husband of Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, passed away on September 25th on Cho Oyu Mountain in China. He had reached the 27,000 foot summit–near the roof of the world–on September 24th and had safely descended to 23,000 feet. His last words before going to sleep at Base Camp 2 were: “I’m the happiest man in the world–I’ve just summited a beautiful mountain.” He never woke up.”
