|Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau owes former judge Leslie Crocker Snyder an apology.
Snyder was running to become Manhattan’s first woman DA. Snyder lost the Democratic Primary this past week to Cyrus Vance, Jr.

Passing the baton at the boys' club
The New York Times reports:
Mr. Vance’s campaign had started out slowly against Leslie Crocker Snyder, a former judge… But Mr. Vance emerged as the establishment candidate with the backing of Mr. Morgenthau.
Ah, thank goodness for the boys club.
Here’s the disturbing part (again from the NYT):
Mr. Morgenthau took a swipe at Ms. Snyder on Tuesday morning. Campaigning with Mr. Vance and the Assembly speaker, Sheldon Silver, on the Lower East Side, he said, “Did you see that picture they ran of Snyder in The Times with her dog? The dog was trying to get away from her.”
Of course – yet another double standard in our political system – if a man is strong, that’s a asset; if a woman is strong, she’s the “b word.”
The boys sure had a good chuckle, now didn’t they. Way to leave your office with grace DA Morgenthau. How about a public apology?
