Clinton was a fighter and strategizer last year too but the media, bloggers and Obama's campaign marginalized and silenced her.

Donna,

Although this statement might be a strech "New Agendans speaking up is the reason she will have a more visible role," I do believe organization should be continuously questioning whether or not women in the administration are being marginalized and whether or not a women's right agenda is being implemented.

However, the questioning does not have to begin the conversation with the assumption that women are being marginalized. HRC is no rookie, chump or pushover - she is a fighter and strategizer.

You said give her time but New Agendans speaking up is the reason she will have a more visible role. You should thank me for speaking up about it right now.

Donna,

As background: I voted for Bush over Clinton, Clinton over Dole, Gore over Bush, Bush over Kerry and Obama over McCain. I thought the Obama/Biden team understood economics better and Biden brought military and foriegn policy experience. In the primary, I was HRC over Obama and Romney over McCain. I think this makes me an independent voter. For those of you who have never, or rarely, voted for both parties, please be open to the possibility that you may have a bias towards someone within the party you typically vote for. Donna, since I do not know your voting record, I am NOT saying this is you.

We will agree to disagree regarding HRC, Palin and Rice. This early within HRC's term, I cannot say that HRC is being marginalized. I don't even believe she is the type of person that would allow herself to be marginalized.

If you assume she is an educated, diligent and savvy person (which I believe she is) couldn't it also be that she is shaping aspects of Obama's foreign policy behind the scenes (as you ascribe to Condi)? It is disheartening that women belittle other women in the Obama administration because they are supporting the team's efforts (as the men are). With the exception of Summers and Geithner, in my impression, no cabinet member is standing out way above another.

It is also disheartening that HRC is belittled because she is going what she believes is right to serve her country but we are supposed to applaud Palin who walked out on her constituents. I am all for strong, independent and savvy women and I admire the "every person" brand Palin represents, but I believe there are so, so many more qualified women to serve public office and be President of the US than her.

Let me end by saying, I definitely respect your, and others, opinion to differ with me.

Condi Rice was credited in shaping Bush's foreign policy perhaps because of her political science background but Clinton seems to just be taking orders.

Donna,

I would agree with regarding Albright but HRC still has a lot more time left during her term. On the other hand, I am not sure that Condi Rice can be remembered for doing anything in particular as SoS. I would consider her one of the least effective SoS in history.

goesh,

I believe HRC has demonstrated that she always places the citizens of the US first and now serves all of us, while Palin just quit on the citizens of Alaska and is serving herself.

Albright was much more visible and clearly had a hand in making decisions as SoS.

Condi Rice shaped foreign policy and made her own decisions as SoS. Clinton simply follows orders.
