[...] But as Hillary’s poll numbers continued to rise, something rather strange started to unfold: Hillary went missing. She gradually became less and less of the spokesperson that our country so surely needed on international issues. There was barely an utterance of her name in the media as President Obama and Vice President Biden trekked around the globe working on international affairs. Until finally last week the blogosphere started to ask: Where’s Hillary? [...]

On the topic of qualifications for President, here they are:

"No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States."

Sarah Palin qualifies.

Now, on the question of intelligence, perhaps we should have an intelligent conversation about it.

Which of these intelligences do you think we need in a President?
Linguistic intelligence ("word smart"):
Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
Musical intelligence ("music smart")
Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
(from: http://www.thomasarmstrong.com/multiple_intelligences.htm)

And back to the old-fashioned view of intelligence: do you think that there is a correlation between a leader's IQ score their ability to maintain peace and avoid starting wars that kill us, and their ability to lead a government that doesn't destroy the environment?

I keep hearing this comment: Sarah Palin is so stupid, I don't want her to have her hand on the button.

Really? So if let's say she was so stupid, the suggestion is that stupid people are suicidal? Or homicidal? I mean what does that even mean, other than a demeaning remark against a powerful woman?

I don't care what politicians say or how they say it, I watch what they do. If Obama can enact progressive or even liberal policies, he can be a successful President.

Clinton is a politician and has to get along to stay in the game. Grassroots activists can be more honest and we feel attacks on her and her supporters because for us, politics is not just a job, we can act on our principles without any cost. The most trustworthy grassroots activist are those who act on principle.

I've only listened to one full speech by Obama because I knew right away he does the exact opposite of what he says. I distrusted Edwards for similar reasons. You just can't go to DC and enact purely progressive policies without coming up against lobbyists, etc. Palin and Bush are smarter and more competentvfir what it's worth. Look at what she did on Alaska. She took on the old boys club and won. How many politicians do that? McCain? Bush spent every week of his presidency enacting right-wing policies and hoarding the money for his Republican friends. That's competence. Obama has the White House, Congress, Senate, the good will of the world and can't get us universal health care and gave 12 trillion to the bankers and housing industry that caused the global financial crisis. Who's dumb and incompetent?

Yes Ginger,

That is an old article from over a year ago - pre The New Agenda.

I spoke out at a rally about the sexism in the Democratic Party towards Hillary. Michelle Goldberg interviewed me and wrote that horrific article. She more recently had her mea culpa moment in a DB article about how wrong she had been about Hillary.

Here's a link to the speech that the article references:

some people agree or don't agree that Obama and/or Palin are articulate. Both are certainly articulate to communicate their standpoints.
The major problem with Obama is that he has changed his standpoints significantly around. and promoted opposing views, later to explain that would happen during a primary. so there are trust issues. I to this day cannot decide on any statement whether he is telling what he believes. in contrast Palin is genuine and consistent and like a lot of her standpoints. I am prefering to listen to her direct and not filtered and edited interviews like the Couric and Gibson ones, which should enrage every woman with some self respect.
