Not so Fast Turkeys! We’re Making a List….
July 4, 2009
by The New Agenda
|It’s time to make a list.
Those of you that were part of The New Agenda early on will recall that in addition to our lofty goals of advancing women and girls, we also had one goal of accountability!
At our initial meeting, we unanimously picked Chris Matthews as the worst offender of sexist treatment against Hillary and got wide media coverage in the LA Times, AOL News, LA Times, Mediabistro, and Politico as we spoke about making people accountable for their actions. And wouldn’t you know it, when Matthews decided not to run for Senator of PA, one of the main reasons was because of “that women’s group of Hillary supporters.”
And sure, we have all had a bit of schadenfreude as one by one, many of those who attacked or double-crossed Hillary have gone down in flames (hey John Edwards, how the VP bid going?).
And whether you would ever vote for Sarah Palin is NOT the issue. What is at stake here is the future of our country. We cannot allow this level of permissible sexism to exist and flourish. Women will not want to run for office when they are subjected to this level of sexist treatment – let alone open season on their children.
So we are asking our viewers and members to help us make a list. Who were the worst offenders of sexist attacks against Sarah Palin and her children? Let’s keep a watchful eye on the media and the blogosphere. Let’s make a list.
Next step, similar to what we did with Letterman, is to form alliances. Then we take care of business!

Would we be able to find out the names of the people/groups who f iled bogus lawsuits against her and caused her/her family to mount up a half million dollars worth of debt?
There is definitely a “vast left wing conspiracy” naming names of opposition research folks would be wonderful- and those who brought the actual suits- good idea!
here is my list from the people you mentioned.
from the guys, it is
1. Rick Sanchez
2. Steve Kornacki
tied with 3. Kevin Osborn
4. John Weaver
5. Paul Begala
from the ladies
far out #1 democrat lady from Alaska Biegel, I think she also brought some lawsuits
2. Harvard professor Rosbeth Moss
3. Sherrilyn Ifill
It looks like some ladies were picked to do the really dirty work. Don’t know who rewards them.
1. Eric Sean Nelson, author of the “Palin Retardation Platform, recently scrubbed at Huffington Post”
http://impalin.com/impalin/?p=1511
2. Huffington Post for running it at all.
3. McCain’s staff. Postpartum depression? Are they licensed doctors or practicing w/o a license?
4. Todd Purdum.
5. Tina Brown
I really am in favor of getting the names behind the bogus lawsuits as KLinn proposes. There has to be a lawyer somewhere who will sue on behalf of Alaskan taxpayers.
Andrew Sullivan is a prolific poster at Daily Dish and only posted on Palin and Iran the other day. At least ten Palin Derangement posts.
The folks at conservatives4palin.com would have all the anklebitters names up in Alaska, I wrote them and asked them to publish the names , websites and e mails of each of them. One I know of who appears at the HuffPo is Shannon Moore-Amy perhaps you can contact RAM or Joe and get the info and post here, I encourge everyone to visit that site for update info on Sarah. They are excellent researchers
conservatives4palin.com
Think we need a real Palin fact check- There used to be a website with almost 100 myths- i.e. books she (didn’t) ban etc.
On second thought it might be best to leave that sort of thing for the 4palin website and stick to just the sexism- that’s TNA’s mission and we should probably stick to it-
Andrew Sullivan, by far the worst with his obession with her uterus. I do not agree with Sarah Palin—-her politics or her personal choices, but they are her choices, and she lives with them. It is not as if she is preaching one thing and then doing another a la Gov. Sanford. Isn’t he trying to fall back in love with his wife? Yeah, I bet she is thrilled.
sarah’s 4t of july address is below, her”high road’ approach will be used as a sword against both Romney( who was absent 500 or so days of his last 700 as gov, running for pres) and Obama( who missed two of the three and a half he was in the senate running for pres). Sure doesnt sound like she is going away. In fact the” high road already sounds like an ad.Her attorney has already sent out cease and desist letters to the anklebitters, the sexist liberal blogs( ie huffpo) and the msm.No she is not going away but is now a bear free from her chains.
From
sarah today”Happy 4th of July from Alaska! On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too. If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you. First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities. For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments. The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it’s honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family. I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness! God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you! Sarah”

FBI speaks about Shannon Moore’s allegations of a pending investigation of Gov Palin
The LA Times reports on the debunking of another baseless stupid rumor:
A day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resigned, a federal official in her home state dismissed one potential explanation for her sudden and unexpected resignation — a rumored FBI investigation into the former Wasilla mayor on public corruption charges.
Despite rumors of a looming controversy after Palin’s surprise announcement Friday that she will leave office this month, some of them published in the blogosphere, the FBI’s Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.
“There is absolutely no truth to those rumors, that we’re investigating her or getting ready to indict her,” Special Agent Eric Gonzalez said in a phone interview Saturday. “It’s just not true.”
Gonzalez added that there was “no wiggle room” in his comments that could exclude any kind of probe.

This is a link to Tennessee Guerrilla Woman blog with a clip of Rick Sanchez suggesting that maybe Palin is pregnant and that would be why she is resigning. Put his jackass on the top of the list.

I say rat out these liberal and media Palin haters. Rat out the ones who put out the lies about Palin and the media that repeated them as if they were true. These people have no idea how deranged and misogynist they look to the rest of us because they live in their little elitist populated echo chamber. Make a list of their names, publish it and yeah someone needs to sue them for slander or for wasting taxpayer money with their lies.
Gail Collins of NYT wrote a piece about Sarah that is inciting really hateful comments. So sad.
Gail Collins writes many wasteful pieces that spew sexism. I think we should track it. I mean beyond Sarah Palin.
Third Estate Sunday Review has an interesting edition addressing sexism and the media in a manner I think New Agenda should mirror. The editorial is here:
http://thirdestatesundayreview.....ously.html
And it has link to the pieces in it. But what they’ve done is looked at two ‘left’ magazines (The Nation and Harper’s) to find out if they’re printing an equal number of men and women? Not by a long shot.
They then move to radio where they look at two ‘left’ radio programs (Counterspin and The Progressive Radio Show) and find, yet again, that women are grossly underrepresented. Not a little bit, grossly.
Then they turn to TV and specifically to PBS which has a diversity mandate. They look at two shows (Washington Week and Bill Moyers Journal) and find even more appalling results.
I was shocked by Washington Week which I do watch while fixing the kid’s dinner on Friday nights. Gwen Ifill’s usually got four guests. So that should mean she’d have an equal number of men and women or at least close to it. Instead, she’s had twice as many men on.
It’s really appalling and I really think New Agenda should track this.
Gloria Steinem and her Women’s Media Center did their pretend “Sexism Sells But We’re Not Buying It” non-action but they never really called out the media.
I think women are ready to bind together and combat this sexism in all media forms even if some of the outlets are friends of Gloria Steinem’s.
Our feminist leaders have failed or been co-opted. Here’s to The New Agenda.
Thanks Keesha. I have been wondering same on some counts – where was Women’s Media Center when Sarah Palin and her children were attacked? If they have nothing to say, they should rename their org.
I have read the stuff over at Third Estate from time to time. Great stuff. If you know the folks there, could you please make an intro for us?
Samantha’sMom. Thank for the info for WGU. I’m sending a letter to them. Nelson has an apology posted at HuffPo, but to my mind, this is another in a series of hate crimes defined as “humor” these days.
