The New Agenda Commends Inspirational Selection for Supreme Court
The non-partisan organization for women – The New Agenda – commends the truly inspirational selection of Sonia Sotomayor as nominee for Supreme Court. Further, The New Agenda is thrilled that 4 of the organization’s 10 exemplary suggested candidates were finalists for this nomination.
“It’s a great day for America and a great day for women,” said The New Agenda co-founder Nancy Hopkins. “Sotomayor’s life story is the embodiment of the American dream. We salute this extraordinary woman – and the extraordinary widowed mother who raised her.”
Hopkins added that she hoped the fact that all of President Obama’s finalists were women signals that this President turned a corner in understanding that equality for women will not be achieved until women are equally represented at the highest levels of government. “The choice of Sotomayor also shows that excellence and diversity go hand in hand. In this case, they were inseparable,” Hopkins said.
Co-founder and President Amy Siskind noted that the other three finalists — Judge Diane P. Wood of Chicago, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Solicitor General Elena Kagan were also on The New Agenda’s recommended list.
“It is truly gratifying to see that the voices of the women in this country are finally being heard,” Siskind said. “Today we celebrate Sonia Sotomayor and President Obama for taking the country forward.”
The New Agenda is a non-partisan organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls by bringing about systemic change in the media, at the workplace, at school and at home.

Keep up the pressure — don’t let up for a minute. I want every single nomination he makes from now until whenever he gets the hell out of the WH to be a woman. 100%.
The Messiah repents!! After tacitly endorsing the horrific, sexist trashing of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin and after filling his Cabinet with mostly men and not punishing his speech writer for sexuallty groping a cutout of Hillary Clinton, he has seen the light. Amen! Fairness and equity are his middle names, this has nothing to do with gleaning potential votes from women and Hispanics. Nada.
Honestly, I don’t give a crap in Cleveland if he repents. Another big lesson from 2008: who gives a damn for what anyone thinks. The world is made up of actions.
He can drop dead in a stew of womanhating, as long as I get solid female apopintments out of his sad ass from now until then.
Would it be NICE if he or any other man repented and really rezlied what they thought and how repulsive it all is? Sure. Is it going to happen? Nope. Is it my JOB to bring it about? Nope.
I’m probably oversensitive to this issue because at 43, I’m finally growing out of that attitude that I had for so long that hurt me so much, that if I failed to convince a smirking male asshole that I was a human bring, it was my failure. I finally let go of that. If they want to go down that road, that’s fine by me — just STFU and hand over the money and the power, NOW.
I shuld probably shut up on this blog, actually. I have really become about as hard as nails on this anymore, and I’m not a terribly good marketable spokesperson. I just want to scare the snot out of them in an electoral sense until they pee themselves in fear before handing over all the money and the power they’d hoarded up to now. No more pretending we’re in this together. Gimme the money, and gimme the power, NOW.
