Thanks to Judy Silver for putting together the video highlights from The New Agenda’s Violence Against Women Forum. The forum was held at the Benjamin Hotel in New York City on Saturday, April 18. Here’s Part One (the rest is coming soon):

Great stats on violence against women in the Amy video…thanks! More women killed in ‘friendly fire’ at home than on the War front..

I’m so glad you posted this. I was a bit late and missed most of Amy’s opening remarks. Very powerful and very, very smart.
And the panel was great. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that Leslie Crocker Snyder wins the DA seat. I thought she was brilliant and passionate. Women (as well as men!) could certainly use a dynamo like her in this position. I don’t live in NYC any more but I will be telling my friends about her.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about Rosemonde Pierre-Louis. Her topic – the media – is an important one for feminists to think about. She was so savvy and hip I was thinking as I was listening to her how awesome it would be to see her talk about DV and the media with all the cable pundits. And I keep thinking about how she said – this message needs to go viral. Indeed.
And the courage that all of these women have. It was very moving and inspiring to listen and learn from all of them.

Good news for a change. Congress is considering a federal hate crimes act based on gender, sexual orientation and gender identity. HR1913, The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009:
