Don’t Miss It! Women’s Museum to Visit While in Cleveland Ohio.
While in Cleveland, don’t forget to visit the International Women’s Air and Space Museum. The Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the history of women in aviation and space and the documentation of their continuing contributions today and in the future. While at the museum, you can visit an exhibit that tells the story of Sally Ride. Dr. Ride was selected as an astronaut candidate by NASA in January 1978. In August 1979, she completed a 1-year training and evaluation period, making her eligible for assignment as a mission specialist on future Space Shuttle flight crews. On June 18, 1983, Sally Ride rocketed into space aboard the space shuttle Challenger. She is the first American woman to fly in space.
