Joan Wages at the future site of the National Women's History Museum
The New Agenda is thrilled to announce our guest for Monday’s March 30th Ophelia show. Joan Wages, the President of the National Women’s History Museum, has some great news to share with Ophelia’s listeners. The legislation to provide the museum a home next to the national mall has just been reintroduced! What better way to celebrate the end of National Women’s History Month than to find out how we can help get that legislation passed this year?
Although women constitute a majority of our country’s population, their lives, achievements, and contributions are underrepresented in museums. The National Women’s History Museum was founded in 1996 with the goal of recognizing the achievements made by American women to promote a better understanding of our history and culture.
In 1998, the museum launched its Cybermuseum at www.nwhm.org and broke new ground in educational outreach. For those who haven’t yet, this site is a MUST VISIT. It has an amazing amount of information including a biographies index, online exhibits complete with lesson plans and quizzes, and a Chronicles section where anyone can submit a write up to honor great women in their life. It is an addictive, interesting site with seemingly endless information to read, read, read and learn, learn learn. Once you visit the site, you may never want to leave.
So tune in this Monday at 10pm EST pm to Chewing the Fat with Ophelia and meet Joan Wages, the President of this fabulous museum, and find out how the National Women’s History Museum came to be and their ambitious plans for the future in which you can play a part!

Oh, I can’t wait to tune in to this one!
Don’t forget Ophelia in 8 minutes!
