It's all part of the gigantic tragedy of women who get involved in abusive relationships. It's part of what makes it such an intractable problem to "fix" and why most women don't leave or they leave, only to return or find another abusive relationship. That is if they live to do so. The most dangerous time for women in these relationships is just as they are about to leave. That is when the stakes are highest and the risk of being killed peaks.
