Marcia - And I would add that, sadly, it is typical for women trapped in "battered woman syndrome" to have such blinders on that they readily welcome and invite those to hide behind their skirts. It's all part of the gigantic tragedy of women who get involved in abusive relationships. It's part of what makes it such an intractable problem to "fix" and why most women don't leave or they leave, only to return or find another abusive relationship. That is if they live to do so. The most dangerous time for women in these relationships is just as they are about to leave. That is when the stakes are highest and the risk of being killed peaks.

Actually ,to be clear, the cease and desist letter came from an attorney that Monserrates girlfriend hired. As I said before in my press statement, it is typical for these types of people to hide behind the skirts of the women the allegedly abuse. No surprise here. TNA, stay strong. When we women speak the truth, it is not uncommon for patriarchy to try to silence us.

More attempts at intimidation, power plays, aggression---as if any of this, including 'reputation management,' changes one iota the violence committed by Monserrate . . . Men who don't commit violence and manage their anger don't need 'reputation management.'.

Sounds like it may be time for another press release exposing the aggressive 'reputation management' tactics employed by Monserrate -- on more than one occasion (TNA and NY NOW).

The last item on this link: http://www.yournabe.com/articles/2001/09/13/import/20010913-archive152.txt

is apparently from a police report after his arrest for running over a tow-truck driver's leg. It's dated Sept. 13, 2001
