Thank you so much for your lovely and insightful piece on Coretta Scott King’s lifelong commitment to working for civil rights before she met Dr. King, alongside her husband, and on her own after his death. I’m so pleased to learn that she advocated extending the movement to include other oppressed groups, and the Josephine Baker connection was just fascinating. Very inspiring, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

I do get it, Anna, and thank you so much for the comments. I figure that because it’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and a lot of people are off work, it’s likely they’re not behind a computer today, which is a good thing. All blogs get more traffic on workdays, as I understand it.

Last post on this piece (probably), just to say again what an outstanding piece it is and to wonder why there are not more posts here. I realize some pieces stir up more emotion, or may be more controversial, etc. But, Anna Belle, you have written something so beautiful, so pertinent, and so right on the money, I hope every blogger and lurker that visits this site will take a moment to post, even if only to give a thumbs up. Sometimes, maybe, there’s not a lot to say. Maybe this the kind of article that stirs lively discussion (though I think it could surely do that as well). I’ve saved it along with one other that have gone into a special file of articles that I know I will want to read again, share with others, and reflect on for perspective and inspiration….

Wonderful. She was an inspiring role model.

Could the webmaster lighten Madame King’s face a bit? I think the lenses for the original shot were reading off her white clothing, and therefore her features are not well illuminated.
