Thanks Anna, I’m delighted the Boston Globe is considering publishing your letter! You bet I’m watching it. The Boston Globe Magazine is usually published every Sunday (that’s where they featured Favreau). It wasn’t published yesterday due to the holidays I believe. I’ll be watching for it in next Sunday’s issue.

I’m not sure who retrieves e-mails in those general mailboxes. But someone will get it and forward it to the appropriate person, I would assume.

Meanwhile, I just got a letter from one of the asst editors at The Boston Globe informing me that they might print my letter. No guarantees, but it seems it’s being considered if there is adequate space. Are you following this so we’ll know if it is published?

ER – Love the Wikepedia idea! I think it has “edit” places on the page, but I’ve never hit it and don’t know what happens. I do know there is a person, or people, who fact check so that it doesn’t become a free-for-all. I think you should e-mail your idea to TNA, especially since this thread isn’t even on the main blog page anymore.

HERE’S A NEW IDEA TO KEEP THE FAVREAU ISSUE IN THE MEDIA hence, keeping the issues of sexism and misogyny in the media.

On the wikipedia page describing Jon Favreau, it states:

“On December 5, 2008, a picture of Favreau performing a suggestive gesture to a cardboard cut-out of Hillary Clinton surfaced on Facebook. Favreau issued an apology to Clinton[7], whose spokesman referred to the photo as “an example of just good-natured fun between former rival camps”[8].

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. If anyone knows how and has the time, please edit the wikipedia page on Jon Faveau!

Glad you plan to organize a resource section. I know you’re all volunteers (btw, I’m volunteering to assist, too) and you’re juggling a zillion things re: personal life, professional life and activism. Nothing’s perfect, we’re all just striving to do our best. I’m absolutely and positively hanging in there. All things on balance, I think TNA has enormous potential from what I’ve seen thus far. Making do goes without saying.

Again, give a shout out for help. I’m there if I have a skill you can use.

Eventually we hope to get a section together like what you were describing but it just takes time. We are all volunteers right now and we just have so many things to get done! I know it isn’t perfect yet but we’re working on it. Please hang in there and do the best you can in the meantime!

Thia – Yeah, I’ve been directed to the “Grassroots” section before. I think it’s not the way to go. A lot of what’s in there are ideas that could be directly forwarded to TNA via e-mail. We need an organized Resouce Center with clear categories such as Media links, letter writing tips, contacting elected officials, etc. It’s not effective for members to wade through more blog posts in the Grassroots section to try to find something specific they need. A blog form is not appropriate for Resources. Resources needs to be organized like a file cabinet. This is one thing PUMApac eventually did that was very important. If TNA strives to be a grassroots org then they need to make it easy for members to take action on their own, not just read about things the org itself is doing or has done.
