A new kind of fireside chat.

A new kind of fireside chat.

Ophelia has a special guest coming to town.

An important goal of The New Agenda is that the women of this country deserve to get paid equally. Ophelia wants to chew some fat and understand how we can best work to achieve this important goal.

This week Ophelia welcomes Beverly Cooper Neufeld of The Equal Pay Coalition NYC. Beverly has devoted much of her lifetime to working on women’s causes. Here’s more about Beverly:

Beverly Cooper Neufeld is the Coordinator of the Equal Pay Coalition NYC and VP of the New York Women’s Agenda. As President of BCN Consulting, Neufeld works with public policy and service groups on strategic and program planning, organizational development, and advocacy. She was the Executive Director of The White House Project, Finance Director for Congresswoman Nita Lowey, and leader of numerous groups that focus on women and children. She is a current Board member of Free the Children and Sing for Hope, and formerly served on the Boards of the League of Women Voters and Women’s Campaign Forum.

And here’s more information on Beverly’s group, The Equal Pay Coalition NYC:

The Equal Pay Coalition NYC is a consortium of civic organizations, advocates and experts working together for Pay Equity in New York. EPCNYC was spearheaded in 2007 by the New York Women’s Agenda (NYWA), a nonprofit charitable corporation, in response to growing concern and mounting evidence of the continuing economic discrimination suffered by New York’s women and minorities and their families. EPCNYC promotes policy and legislative action on all levels of government to create fair pay practices in New York. The coalition’s activities include: Equal Pay Day NYC rallies, participation in Pay Equity hearings, advocacy campaigns, outreach to stakeholders and media, and educational activities and forums including Fair Pay: The Time is Now. Learn more at www.nywa.org/working_together.html.

So grab your cup cup of coffee, tea or wine and tune in this Monday at 10 p.m. EST to Chewing the Fat with Ophelia.

Just a thought but I am inviting my friends on Mon. instead of Wed. so they can listen to Ophelia. If any of you haven’t had the chance to listen in yet it is really great. It’s hard for me to stay up that late and then I am all pumped up and can’t sleep till 2:00 am but it’s worth it.

    Hmm, Thia – that’s a good point.

Maybe we ought to switch “Bring a Friend Day” to Monday.

    Sheryl,
I think it’s a fun way to introduce The New Agenda to people who don’t know about it. My 71 year old Mother and my 100 year old Grandmother will be listening tomorrow night. (If their naps go well that is…)

Obama lacks political will to crack down on Wall street crooks. Be sure to read the comments.

Yes, but making women appear incapable of helping themselves is only half of it. It’s also talking about DECADES of Obama helping… o.O

I am appalled at that ad. Does Obama seriously think he can appeal to women by showing us we are not capable of helping ourselves??

Does anyone honestly believe Obama’s “Julia” story equals liberation for women? http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=51265

Strange, Romney’s Mormon family not polygamist BUT Obama’s father was polygamist. I didn’t realize!
