Former President Bill Clinton was interviewed on The View on September 22,
2008. Bill makes reference to The New Agenda co-founder Dr. Lynette Long
and her article The X Factor.
Pres. Clinton says he agrees with Lynette: “We vote for some people because
we identify with them on race or gender.” Pres. Clinton further adds: “You
can’t tell someone else that the ground on which they make their voting
decision is irrational.”
Well, I say AMEN Pres. Clinton. Thanks for signing on with a core belief of
The New Agenda: That we must promote women to the highest levels of
government and business, and for the woman of this country, it is okay to
vote for someone because she is a woman!

How does this jibe with the statement in the 30% Solution article that Obama is a “race-baiter” because he got black voters to vote for him?
Seriously, you’re missing the point, which is this: There’s nothing wrong with voting for someone with whom you identify. Voting is complex, and identity issues are one of the reasons we tend to support one candidate over another. Having a minority candidate or a woman candidate has real value for members of that minority, and members of the female gender. REAL value, and probably quantifiable, over time.
seriously, the statement you’re referring to from that post was in fact that Obama got black voters to support him by race-baiting, not that he is a race-baiter because black voters support him.
When I vote for a woman, I feel like I’m voting for myself. I get really annoyed when someone tells me that I’m voting against my own interests. Who knows what my interests are better than I do? When someone says that, my “paternalism meter” goes off. Even when a woman says it.
He is a great man. People on some of the blogs I go to are bashing him for being a real Statesman and not hammering McCain. I get mad cause I think he is just being honest. His honesty is showing…he likes McCain …he thinks McCain is a good man. I’ll take a Statesman like him over a Politician anyday!!!
When Hillary wins in ’12… I will be pround to call him “The First Dude”
- from Governor of Arkansas to President – only a woman Governor could be excluded from consideration for the Vice Presidency given the same qualifications
