From the email alert sent to The New Agenda members on Monday:

MSNBC has asked The New Agenda co-founder Amy Siskind to appear on David Gregory’s “Race for the White House” program for a discussion of NOW’s endorsement of an all male ticket.

Amy said no. Not without the requested meeting with NBC’s Zucker and the public apology from Matthews for on-air sexism. Amy also let Gregory’s representative know that, “until such time as Mr. Zucker and Mr. Matthews follow through on our requests, we would certainly be hypocritical to appear on any MSNBC show.”

Until we get that meeting and big public apology from Chris Matthews, it’s no way, no how to MSNBC. That should go for all of us and anyone we think values the fair treatment of women by the media.

Yay Violet. Somehow the media thinks that anyone that march to “their” drum beat has to go on “their” channel and do some splainin. What b.s.

How about if MSNBC comes on your blog and explains their rampant misogyny, disinterest in fair coverage of ALL candidates and their frequent lies? How about that?

Because no woman who believes that she should be considered an equal to a man would ever lower herself to Misogyny Central @ MSNBC.

Ah, sorry, keyboard faster than brain this morning. That should read; “doesn’t march to their drum”. Sorry. More coffee needed.

This is great. We don’t need to support networks that encourage hostility toward women candidates.

Findings from the UN study: Political parties play a determinant role in changing attitudes to women’s leadership. Quota systems (from voluntary to legally required), party and media codes of conduct, and campaign finance controls have also been effective in leveling the playing field for women.
    [...]
Campaign financing deficits, violence, and hostile media coverage have been addressed unevenly by governments.
    [...]
Governments still have a long way to go to find effective means of addressing election violence and other forms of intimidation targeting women. Some have found it effective to work with media to prevent hostile coverage of women candidates.

Hey, keep up the fight. Hold out for the meeting and would you consider circulating an e-petition I could sign? Let them worry about viewers and also customers for their advertisers.
Thanks for this wonder blog and site and the efforts you make. You rock.

Great call Amy. You make all the right decisions.
The misogyny and slander against women candidates continues to worsen on MSNBC and CNN as well. Soledad O’Brian flat out lied about Sarh Palin cutting funding for special needs children in her state by 62%. Fact check.org corrected this and other lies (Sliming Palin sept 8) but still no apology from Soledad, Paul Begalia nor Hillary Rosen, who all have flat out lied against Palin. The hate campaign against Palin is a constant reminder of the dirty politics that the Obama campaign used against Hillary Clinton. MSNBC’s Olberman, Mathews and Maddow are as unprofessional as you can get. This liberal democrat is still turning to Fox News for balanced reporting. Who would have figured. But the reality remains that no one at Fox News gets a chill up their leg when McCain speaks nor did any of their reporters nearly break out in tears (like Chris Mathews when Obama lost New Hampshire) when McCain lost a primary. MSNBC-
Misogyny Sexist Nothing But Commies network is beneath your dignity. They are sinking fast. Don’t offer them any credibility.
