I read that she’s racist, conniving, manipulative, vicious, arrogant, corrupt…

No—I’m not talking about Hillary Clinton. It’s Sarah Palin they’re saying these things about (surprise!), and yet it sounds so like the things that were said about Clinton, that if the geography and names weren’t there to clue me in, I’d never know the difference.
And I’m not going to link to the blog where I read that, because I don’t want to give it any more exposure, but it’s likely this uppity-woman meme will spread, because it’s what they say about women who don’t know their place, who dare to compete in the hallowed precincts of power.
My response to those people: If you’re going to keep talking, please do it from over there, out of the flow of traffic. Women are coming through.
In fact, I think, “Move over,” may be the only response that will save us from picking up another label like “Hillary Harridans”, because what are they going to call us when we decry the sexism directed at Palin—”Sarah’s Shrews”?
Wait for it.

I am assuming a man wrote that. The NYT’s Judith Warner (for one) is both nauseated and humiliated by Palin – apparently because the veep nominee is very pretty and looks good in a bikini. It’s amazing that after decades of women actualizing themselves in all manner of professions, so many people still have a narrow view of what women should look like, think like and act like. The “mother of all backlashes” is brewing.
A man did write it, but his source was a letter from a woman who allegedly knew Palin when she was mayor.
I am a proud Clinton Loyalist that could not support Obama for the sake of Party Unity. After May 31,2008 in Washington DC I began putting together a website that spelled out all of the reasons why Obama should not be elected. I call my website http://www.hillaryloyalistnowformccain.com I have gotten a lot of positive feedback. Lately I have been showered with Hate. It has pumped me up because it means we are all making a difference. To honor my hate emails I posted a new page.. read it and laugh with me! http://hillaryloyalistnowformc.....sults.aspx
I am a far right conservative woman who was drawn to this site from the Uppity Woman link. Though I agree with little to no leftist views, I found myself nodding several times in complete accord with the blogger there.
The media, whether it is right or left-wing, traditionally attacks women in any position of political power on her looks. She’s either too sexy or too frumpy. Too pretty or too ugly.
The right had a field day with how frumpy Madeline Albright and Janet Reno looked. They make fun of how botoxed Nancy Pelosi looks. The left had a field day with how ugly Linda Tripp was and how over made up Katherine Harris looked.
What? Are all male politicians Adonises then?
They are just as bad if the woman seems too pretty. Just shut up and look pretty, they seem to imply.
Then they criticize her voice and her wording. Shrill and sarcastic and angry!
Then they criticize her parenting skills.
One thing I have noticed and it kind of disturbs me, is the liberal feminists coming out after Sarah because they share different views. I am a liberal and even though Sarah and I may have different views I do not think she or her views are “bad” .
I like that this forum is non partisan, becuase after reading an op-ed by Gloria Steinem (whom I love) which disturbed me because I thought it very much distorted Sara palin’s character.
…ruthless, unyielding, self-serving, has a “wild temper”, and a “mean streak.”
These characteristics sound very Patton like to me. You know, the guy all the fellows admired from WWII. Perhaps they are frightened ………
I have been just as saddened to see the left turn on Palin using the same tactics they used against Hillary.
And they only stopped beating up on Hillary when Sarah arrived. They have forgotten the actual candidate they are running against!
As a long-time Democratic activist, I have been shocked and dismayed–heartbroken that the left has turned out to be so sexist.
I feel like I no longer have a home.
As a long-time Democratic activist, I have been shocked and dismayed–heartbroken that the left has turned out to be so sexist.
You’d be amazed how often I hear that around here.
Welcome.
I was shocked, dismayed and heartbroken for a long time. I was advised to “get over it.” I was told to “move on.” I was informed that they “didn’t need” the old Democratic Party coalition of blue-collar workers, senior and rural voters in the “new Democratic Party.” Apparently, they didn’t need women in the “new Democratic Party” either.
So, I followed their advice. I got over it and I moved on. To the Republican Party. The party of equal opportunity for women apparently. Who knew?!
Former Democrat voting McCain/Palin in November.
I am an Independent voter from Massachusetts who has voted Democrat (all but once) in my whole life.
The manner in which MSNBC, CNN and others, along with journalists and renowned feminists have treated Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin has been appalling and overtly sexist, not unlike the way New York Senator Hillary Clinton was also treated. Are these people questioning a women’s right to have what most
men already have? Men are allowed to have a family life and a professional life, but women are not.
Women are chastised for choosing family over their career, and then again when they choose to have both.
Senator Hillary Clinton is an accomplished professional woman who has worked with her fellow senators,
both Democrat and Republican for the good of her country. The way she was treated by the media,
the DNC, and Democratic leaders was just painful to witness.
P.S. I don’t watch the Oprah show, but I thought she was fair and open-minded, apparently not when it concerns GOP vice-presidential nominee, Governor Sarah Palin and others who don’t tow the Democratic party line.
I found your site from a link at American Sentinel. I find your article and the comments very interesting. I am a 50 year old conservative woman who used to have a negative view of Hillary Clinton. But now I have to say that my mind has been changed about her. I was rooting for her to win the nomination and feel that she was treated unfairly and disgracfully. She has proven she can reach across party lines and has represented her constituents well in her Senate tenure. She showed strength, courage and grace during her primary run. I was shocked to see her own party turn on her as if she was of no account and that her supporters were expendable. All I can guess is that Obama’s staff and supporters are made up of youngsters who are so arrogant that they diss one of the Democrats strongest and hardest working bloc of voters and think they can still win in November. I am so glad that so many of Hillarys supporters are not going to just “go away and get over it”. Whether or not you decide to write in Hillary’s name, vote for McCain or just stay home, you all deserve a lot or respect. You go ladies!
Thank you so much for getting this going. I signed up today, and offered my services to the cause. I am excited about the possibility of a budding fourth wave. I added this site to my blog (click on my name to access). Readers can just click on the 4th Wave Star to access this site.
The comments here are great, too. Nice to see such political diversity.
Let me know if there is anything I can do.
Almost forgot, I found you folks via The reclusive Leftist. (Love that blog)
I love Hilary and I love Sarah. We must celebrate our similarities and respect our differences.
Women must stick with women and set examples for our little girls.
We have enough rappers in the music industry putting down women and we don’t need us to do that to ourselves.
I love this site because this is where friends are made, different view points can be heard with respect and the realization that women have more similarities than differences. Ladies, we can make a difference to the good of our country and the future our little girls!
I read a Newsweek article and the argument is Bristol keeps her baby because her parents say so and because they are pro-life.
If this is true that Bristol only keeps the baby because her parents say so, I just wanted Bristol to know that she will not regret it. The baby is going to be so precious and gorgeous and she will be able to share the baby with all the American moms that love babies and think babies are precious. We are talking about life and death. Are we saying kill the baby? Let’s say you are in this situation what will you do. You can do whatever you want to do. This is America. I say keep the baby and share the baby with all the love ones in her family. I can see Piper loving her new niece or nephew. This is not anyone or reporter’s business to discuss to death. This is this family business. I am pro choice but if this happens to my teenage daughter, I will not want her to do it and hopefully she agrees. Do I think that Sarah will impose her ideas to all women of America? So far No and I hope never because I think she’s beyond that. She may voice her opinion and love for life but I don’t think that she will be those crazy anti abortion activities that use violence to get their way. I hope when she does get elected that she will tell those women that that was not the right way to go and will condemn them of their violence or harrassment.
Juan Cole, a professor at the University of Michigan, writes on the liberal Web site Salon.com that Palin, a Bible Church Christian, is a religious extremist.
“What is the difference between Palin and Muslim fundamentalists? Lipstick,” Cole said.
Another Salon writer, writer-at-large Gary Kamiya compares Palin to a whip-wielding dominatrix who he says is attempting to seduce independent voters, adding that the GOP is now the party of sex, women and fun. In language that can’t be used here, he says delegates were sexually aroused by Palin.
I’m so glad to see this site, I thought I was all alone. This past week was a complete and utter shock to me. I expect that before it’s all over, Sarah Palin will have engineered 9/11 and shot JFK.
I didn’t pay much attention to the primary races; I wish I had. If anyone would like to point me to any place online where I can catch up on what was done to Hillary in the Dem primary, I would appreciate it.
